k so im sure this is already asked somewhere but hopefully no one gets too upset i ask it again. anyways..

im looking for a light set up for my growing im gonna be doing. I was looking at some Fleuros cuz theyre cheap... its a 4 tubed 4 ft long lamp and comes with 4 6500k bulbs and id pick up the 4 3000k bulbs for flowering.. would this work and get me nice BIG buds?

or should i go with 1 400 watt HPS light with a ballast ?

im basically planning on growing as much as possible at once.. also want to veg them longer to let them get a bit bigger in the idea of getting bigger buds.

They will work with mediocre results, if you want nice juicy dense buds HID is the only way to go,fluorescent lighting is good for veg,but will work for flowering, but I don't recommend it if you are looking for the best results.

right right... well i know it varies with strain and other variables but how much of a difference would the HPS system make? and side question about how many plants could i put under each of those lighting systems i posted above ^^^

i veg to 18" under this

then flower under a 430 watt hps

if i skip the veg and do 12/12 from seed they look like this.

12/12 from seed about 1 and a half weeks to harvest.

she was 42.8 grams dry weight.

cool. i take it the 42.8 grams was for the plant that you skipped the vegging in right?? btw, if you can get an ounce from a plant that wasnt vegged, and most people only get about an ounce from a plant, why even veg? ... (so you recommend the fleuro or the HPS? for all stages?remember, the fleuro i would get 3000k bulbs for flowering)

Day 72

if i have the lights i put them in.

the big one is a 430 watt hps

some 42 watt and 23 watt cfl's

and yes a 24" t-12 flow.

do you know this from exp. with flo. and how many years have you been growing with them that you know the results are that much diffrent.

some shit wont finish under T5HO and other strains finish under T5HO

bluejay no
bcroadkill yes
sage yes

i love T5HO and with 6500 and 3000 and uvb lights and the right strain i get rock hard christal draw dropping shit.

i have been useing thes for about 2and half years and i am in pressed with how little they cost to run and how well they work. i dont know if its because i have so many difernt kinds of light. but get the lights here they are cheep http://www.contractorlighting.com/high-fluorescent-4lmp-t5ho-120277-p-152.html?osCsid=8da3fb47aa26bb5c0bf27d4647ae1332

well those plants look real nice expecially getting 2.5 ounces per plant.. thats nice....but here. . . for a small "dealer" which set up would you prefer? the HPS or the Fleuros? keeping in mind i would need to grow as much as possible with the highest quality bud.

I never tried the High output fluorescent, but I have heard good things about them, but rickymac was talking about regular fluorescent, that I do have experience with, and with those, results can't be compared to HID

Let's put it simply hps is gonna be the most economical in terms of lumens per watt. Cfls from what I understand are right behind them however the intensity is greatly different and u can't get that kind of canopy penetration with a floro IMO if ur on a budget go floro if u wanna do it right get an hps for flower a mh for veg and some random cfls to help illumination. Ull then get potency and good yield. Nothing warms my balls like watchin nugs swell under a 400w hps haha

Get a 400 watt HPS. They don't put off that much heat, and you'll learn how to grow correctly before stepping up to bigger wattage lights/requirements. Properly ventilating your room and keeping temperatures and humidity in check are as important as lighting. A 600W is the most efficient of the HID lights in terms of lumens per watt, but just make sure you can provide for the additional heat that will put off if you decide to go with one of those instead.

thanks guys... btw. i just want to go ahead and say that this forum seems really nice.. full of good people.. ive been on a few other forums and not everyone is kind and helpful to noobs.. haha. so thanks..... anyways. heres what i think i decided to go with http://htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=47981

comes with basically a complete lighting system ... i might go ahead and by a cheap fluero set up with some cfl's and make seperate growing room for germination/sprouting the seeds and maybe vegetation... anyways.... as for the main idea. about how much heat would that hps\mh light set up put out in a little room/box about 6ft x 6ft x 7 ft tall ?? say the actual room the grow room/box is in is about 72 degrees F if that helps... to cool the room would cooling the lamp help? so i could use this http://htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=52557
and some ducting to the lamp... i have a good idea. just cant explain it...

cool sounds good... and im prolly gonna just say screw the idea of the drip system cuz i think i can handle watering each plant 2-3 times a week.... hopefully the temp factor isnt a big issue cuz thatll bug me. haha... but its between 76-86 degrees F isnt it? somthin like that anyways... if i veg a strain like white widow or white rhyno for a couple weeks longer than directed (till about say 30 inches tall or a little more.) is it possible to get more bud out of them? i would assume so. bigger plant should equal bigger/more bud

Yes vegging longer will give you more when harvested,76 is good low 80's also anything higher than that might effect yield, you can run higher temps with Co2 but thats a different story,How Do you grow soil or soiless???

honestly idk what soil less is. i have heard the term but i was just planning on getting some soil with specific nutrients in it (phosphorus, nitrogen, potassium, etc.)

By soil less I meant hydroponics,I don't do soil anymore but when I did I used 50% soil with no nutes added 25% perlite (for soil aeration) 25% vermiculite (retains water good),and simply bought water soluble nutrients and had great results
