i have a 6" growbright inline fan 424cfm that sounds like a jet. It only needs to cool and clean a 4x4x7 tent so i want to run it at 50-75%. Does anyone know of a good variable fan speed controller that is good. A link would be great. - Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices
theres one. Any opinions on that model? I dont realy like how primitive it is and would much rather have a digital one. Can anyone help me out?

That looks to me like it would work, Sounds like a jet eh. I have seen posts where people have built a box and suspended the fan inside and wrapped the box to quiet them down. Looked to me like it would work.

Or of course just slow it down.

Yea, that should work just fine. Prob one of the better prices your going to find online too. Just tried to google it for about 5min. Saw a few others but all about the same details/price.

I went to homedepot to find a fan speed control, and they only have the ones that you hardwire into walls. Could I hardwire my fan to it?

Anyone know which retail stores I can find a fan speed control that I can plug my fan into?

i just bought the harbor freight piece.....exactly what you need

I tested the sunleaves fan with the same speed controller, and found there was alot of motor "hum" when you slowed the fan speed. The motor didn't like the variable voltage. I have a thread started, a few pages back. I was trying to get some feedback with other speed controller and fan combos.

I am pleased with my fantech WC-15 on a S&P mixvent. Mixvent is already pretty quiet as is, but I just run the dimmer at so I can sleep and have odor control at the same time. The one your looking at is plug and play but it is the same concept. I think it should work well. Simplicity is nice, no need to go digital.
