Clarify something in these pictures please.

I'm a first time grower so this might sound a bit foolish to some of you, but there are these little bitty green hair-like things growing around the nodes. Please look at the pictures below.

What are these???

Note: Both of these pictures are 2 seperate plants.

They are just little thingys that grow by nodes, im not really sure exactly why. They are not preflowers if thats what you wanna know. Those will come later on at 8-12 weeks of age.

Ok, thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if they were pre-flowers or not.

While we're on the subject though, how long into the flowering cycle does it take (on average) so begin showing signs of sex? I know some people say their plants show sex by the end of their veg cycle, but I'm trying to keep my plants fairly small.

few days, stay vigilant, all it takes is one dude to get them all knocked up.

Preflowers will form before flowering if you wait long enough, 8-12 weeks old.

Think about a rose; the thorns (or pokey spikes) are stipules

if your plant didn't have these then it wouldn't be an angiosperm
look it up gnr

check for balls man, just like in real life.

Yeah what deuce was saying is that these grow on plants that do flower. Because these do not show up because they are flowering.

I've looked at each of my 3 plants very well and didn't see any male balls on any of the plants. I'm thinking it might be too early to tell though?

They all have them, male and female, and you see them long before flowering, which they have absolutely nothing to do with.
