1st grow

Still nothing new. Plant has grown surprisingly very little in the past couple days.

Question : How long will the fertilizer water in my 2 liter bottle stay good for? at what point should i wash it out and put new water and nutes in?

any further advice on LST, or anything else i need to know is highly appreciated
depending on the nutes you use anywhere from 24 hours to 1 week.. its hard sayin...

if you arent ciculating that water you should wash and replenish the nutes every few days.. i would suggest alternating tho between plain water.. and nuted water...

did you water with your nutes and then set up the water bottle?? that could be a problem since the growing medium isnt really having a chance to dry out.. MJ grows better in a wet to dry environment.. so if its constantly staying wet since the nutes were added it could cause slow growth...

Im gonna water her for her 2nd time with nutes later tomorrow. The moistermeter says its still moist towards the bottom but the top 3-4 inches are dry. Should i worry about the branches and leaves that are touching the soil? (refering to the nutes directly hitting the plant) will me watering w/ nutes hurt the plant?

Im debating on when to start 12/12 flowering. I would obviously love to wait a long time and let her get bigger, but I have been led to understand my plant will double in size during flowering already and since im LSTing, i think the plant is in its perminent home. When should i begin 12/12 with the knowledge that eventually my plant will out grow its pot and i dont plan on transplanting it ever again. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for all help/advice!

if the top is dry and as long as the bottom isnt wet wet you can water... i personally try to break up the top layer of soil, before i water, so the water penetrates the soil more evenly... i would just do about the top 1/2" or so...

the leaves in the soil and the nutes hitting the plant will be ok.. worst thing that will happen is little white salt crystals on the leaves when the water evaporates.. the salts from the nutes.. you can brush it or wipe it off.. no biggy..

if you are just gonna run with that pot i would start flowering somewhat soon.. my guess is your roots have about maxed out the pot already... so unless you want to transplant real quick and retie everything then you should start flowering in the next.. oh... 3 to 4 days... your girl will double in size about... so soon is about right...

Watered her again today with 1/4 strength nutes. The new growth tips were starting to turn yellow.

i decided, that due to time restraints, that i will start flowering this weekend. i got a time and im going to buy 2x 40 watt cfl (200 equiv) with a red type spectrum and do 12/12 with those.

advice/concerns ?

Like said above a fan will give the stem more viggar also the extra bit of fresh air is always a good thing.don't get into the habbit of haveing the light too high all though you will have to sort a new light out for in a few week.start putting a small quantity of nutrients in with the superthrive that you should have been feeding this yute.also cut the watering down this is the only way that you will get a realy good rood system the plant has no need to spread out if you are watering every day water about 3 times a week till she gets her second set of leaves the water twice aweek at most.

In preparation for flowering which I wanna start this weekend, I got a few things.

1. 2x 40 watt (150watt equiv) soft white bulbs. Now I have 2x 27 watt daylight and 2x 40 watt soft whites. Hopefully this will not only be enough light, but enough of a spectrum range to bud. (thoughts, advice?)

2. Timer. Set it to 18/6 today, will be putting it to 12/12 sometime this weekend.

3. New fertilizer for flowering. It says for orchids but my friend swears by it. It has a great ratio 11-35-15. Keeping in mind I've only watered my plant twice with the vegetative nutes, when should i begin using these new ones if im starting flowering this weekend? and how often should i use them and at what strength?

Other than that, theres been lots of growth, there are now 4 major grow sites (including main) and 3-5 smaller ones underneath all the brush.

I cut off the lowest 3 or 4 leaves that were completely yellow and im afraid may attract bugs.

ALL ADVICE WELCOMED :)

alright bro! time to start flowering... alright.. so lets start at the beginning.. the lights you have will work.. but i would recommend trying to get warm colored bulbs... they put off the red and oranges you will want for flowering... if you can replace all the bulbs you have right now for warm ones you will have better success.. BUT you WILL have success either way... so dont stress if you cant get new bulbs...

now nutes should be the same way as the veg nutes... wait until you have started 12/12 and need to water and feed.. start out with a 1/4 to 1/2 strength solution, closer to 1/4 tho, and begin there.. i prefer to feed every other time in soil grows so that the girls can use all the nutes available before adding more... go from 1/4 strength to 1/2 strength.. i wouldnt go much more than 1/2 strength tho.. what brand are the nutes??

sounds like things are going along good tho! keep it up bro!

the soft white bulbs are a redish orange tint. they are 2700. I have 2 of them and 2 of the daylight. Right now they are in 18/6 cycle. I heard that having different kind of bulbs is a good way for the plant to get different kinds of light and produce better bud. is this not so? should i get all of the 2700?

The brand of nutes are by better gro... check the picture for specifics.

as long as you have some red/orange spectrum you are fine... giving them mutiple spectrums does help too.. they will still us blues during flowering.. just not as much.. and i stand by what i said earlier with the nutes.. wouldnt go much over 1/2 strength with that..

Finally it has come! i set the timer for 12/12, did a little more LST, and am super pumped!

Tomorrow i think im buying two more of the 2700 40 watt (150 eq) bulbs to replace the 2 day light ones. Will these 4 be enough (light and spectrum) to flower?

Also, how sensative is the plant during its 12 hours of dark? i have the closet pretty well closed off with sheets and such, but would opening the closet on accident every now and then ruin the flowering?

im a total noob and someone correct me if im seeing things wrong but ur plant looks barely 6 inches tall. how small is ur closet exactly?

looks like shes responded well to the LST.. 4 bulbs will be enough to flower.. but expect small pop corn buds... if its possible to get another ballast and add more bulbs period that would be ideal... but switching to the warm spectrum is a good idea for sure..

First update since 12/12 started. I see my first preflower but its way too small to tell what it is yet but still im excited :)

Got a new light... 300 watt CFL O_O This things huge. i think this will be what i finish flowering with (in addition to the 4 bulbs i currently have)

hows the set up look though? i cant hang it sideways so its like it is in the pic

did some more LST, tied back the new growths to spread everything out a little more. Question --- When should i untie the main stem?

Also i noticed what looks like bug bits along the edges of a couple leaves. However, i cant tell if its bugs or just a misformed leaf, because lately (you may or may not be able to tell from pics) the tips of all the leaves are either yellow or curled in a random direction. Is all this a possible nute burn? Would nute burn cause the leaves to look like they got eaten?
