How to keep the plant SHORT?

Hello RIU!

I'm at my first grow, have a plant that is already 2,5 ft tall after less than 80 days (here is the pic), and I guess she still has to grow in height.

For the next grow, what would you suggest to keep a plant short? I'd prefer a wider plant, but something no taller than 1-1,5 feets.

Will the yield suffer from such limit?

Is topping a good way to limit the growth in height? Or would you suggest to "cap" the plant with a metal grid or something?

Any input will be greatly appreciated!

P.s. any guesses about the final height of my plant?

This technique is really interesting!

Not applicable at the moment (4 inches at the bottom are already somewhat woody), but definitely is something to try in the next grow!
And it also seems something that can increase yield (more light penetration).

I'm asking to people with experience with LST: do this technique makes harder for the plant to bring water around?

Thanks!

I used a product called bushmaster on my last sativa grow and it kept um short and bushy

You can slowly bend the top over, a bit at a time until you can tie it to the bottom of the plant. It will turn around to face the light and then you should really start it flowering.
Figure that the plant will double or triple in size during flowering, how much room do you have?
You could use topping in conjunction with lst, and tie the branches down as they grow. Here's another method of training that saves the faffing about with string https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/56976-advanced-lst-old-school-bonsai-style.html

yeah man-do some lst training, topping or use the supper cropping method-they all work out great, and supper cropping will increase the yield to.

But you mean with the actual plant?
It would be a bit difficult at the moment... I was thinking to a solution for the next grow.

Room is not an issue (I'm growing in my room, no lamps, just the plant in a pot in front of the window for the sun), but I would rather prefer a shorter plant so I can keep it much more near to the window (hiding her) and give them more direct sunlight.

Gonna check that out!

Thank you so much, Hairy Bob!

Hey Grow Space, do you have a link about super cropping method?
I ran some searches but can't end up with anything!
Thanks ;)

Supercropping is a bit more stressful to the plant, yes. As long as the plant's environment is good and there are no other significant stress factors the plant will recover quickly, and yield more. Just don't go around bending every branch on the plant at the same time!

top a few times, let it grow, then supercrop... ull be gold, thats what i do...

"cropping"(LST, super-cropping) is to train and menipulate ur plant... u bend the plant sideways which tricks the plant to grow vertical shoots from the nodes... the more nodes u have above ur bend (menipulation) the more shoots will grow and become tops(which can be topped)... by doing this ur optimizing ur lights, cause they will only penatrate so deep... SCing will allow those lil buds at the bottem to become tops by, keeping ur canopy short and even.. ur also optimizing ur space cuz u pretty much make a blanket of weed, rather then having areas /holes where buds could fit...
supercroppin is so benifical espeacilly if plant numbers or height is an issue..

check this link, it will explain the process and such... read it well if it intrests u, cuz every QnA imaginable is in there... even 1's u didnt think to ask... cheers!
Super Cropping
" top a few times, let it grow, then supercrop... ull be gold, thats what i do..."

this room is 7 trained plants and 10 sog clones that were an experiment that u see in the conner in 2lt bottles.. as u can see theres no holes/gaps where light is lost

Also your plant looks like it did a fair amount of stretching. Try keeping the light closer and the plant won't need to go searching quite as hard. Every little bit helps
