Grass clippings around base of plant???

Someone told me that if you take dead grass clippings (like after you mow your lawn) and put it all around the base of your plant in a mound, its supposed to do realgood for it, maybe he grass has its own nutes it passes on, like compost.... idn just wondring, ne feedback is greatly appreciated

you want to put grass clipping that has no grass seeds in it around the plant as a mulch. it will stop weeds from growing. it will help retain water in the summer months, but if applied too early during the rainy season will keep it to moist and offen cause death right at the base of the plant.

Grass clippings is good to use if you're making your own compost. Like stated before, you have a greater chance of getting grass seeds, weeds and other growth that you don't want around your MJ plants.
If you want anything to put around your plants to retain moisture, use a good treated mulch. Not too deep and not too close to the stalk, you'll create whats known as "girdle" and choke your lovly plant.

I even take the clippings from my plant and put it back into the soil, wont hurt anything, just make sure you know whats in it, No seeds.. and NO bugs...

NOT, the chlorophyll isn't good for the plant.
Maybe after you've composted it?

Me too...when there is a stressed leaf or partially eaten leaf by those fuckin' slugs, I pinch it off and put it into the growing pot. Breaks down and feeds the mother plant. No harm in this tactic.

I would say give it a week or two, before you expect any preflowers, last year i got them in mid august, also i think it would depend on how big ur plant is, mine are still fairly small and i couldn't picture pre flowers coming in just yet....

There are many things you can use to cover the base of your soil. Yes it can help retain moisture but really, with growing pot I don't like the idea of retaining moisture.

The primary benefit that I see in having a layer of bark for example is that it aids the soil in retaining Nitrogen...not just moisture.

i dont like to put the leaves in the growing pot because it is just something else to attract bugs, slugs and disease. maybe if you bury it in the dirt but i dont do it. just my opinion.
