Sorry to hear about your unemployment status. I was laid off the beginning of May and I'm still searching for a job. I'm on unemployment now, but I have been getting some better job interviews and pay prospects.
My fiance and I are both unemployed, but are trying to think positive and take advantage of the downtime by going to school full time to finish our Bachelor's degrees (we both have A.A. degrees already). We both made really good money when we were working, but we kept our bills low in case something like this should ever happen.
The only available jobs that are really prevalent in our area would earn us even less than we make on unemployment, so while we both dislike not working, we are holding out for jobs that would be more money.
I've worked since I've been 16 years old (I even worked full time and went to school full time for the majority of my working years) and this is the first time I've used unemployment (am now 26). I am really getting sick of people assuming that those of us who collect unemployment are low-life non bill paying scumbags.
To the 19 year old child, I have to ask what the point is to tell us that you're a sophomore in college, but yet are never planning to work a "real" job. Are you just going to collect your degree (assuming you make it through college and graduate) and then when people criticize you (and they will, friends or not), throw back the fact that you've wasted an education by not putting your degree to any gainful use? I'm not trying to be overly harsh or dis you, but I'm thinking that education means something different in your family and life than some of the rest of us. I'm all for expanding your mind with education (and some really good weed!!
) but what's the point if you aren't going to use the education? If you are going to throw money away, then why not donate it to some charities for people who could really use the money to go to school? I think that when you get older and mature, you will find that you might need more than just financial security (albeit not your own, of course, but that's really your business) to enrich your life.

.... dont like burning bridges though, it comes back to bite you in the ass eventually, so i called him last night, and quit without having it be a huge deal.....
