From the ground up...200sqft build out

I figure I’ve got an acre here I might as well put it to some use.

I thought about buying a shed kit but it just wasn’t worth it. I think this total build out will run a good $800 to $900. That will get me insulated and drywalled. Finding a nice 200sqft shed for that price isn’t easy. All I have to do is build it right? :-?:-?

See, originally I wanted to convert a room in the house (take note single guys)…the wife Xnayed that really fast. We decided the best spot would be down where my workshop is. I have a solid 250+ sqft shed that’s built out of telephone poles. It’s not going anywhere. I’m just gonna add on to that.

I grabbed my weekend warrior truck and headed down to the lumber yard, dropped $3bills on some wood and here we are. I love this truck. She’s ugly but runs good. I only put about 150mi a year on it so I don’t think she’s got an oil change in 5 years! Yeah I know thats bad but I don't care.

Here is the basic pad we made. “We” means me and this dude Jose. He’s a workhorse. Even though I’m putting in a subfloor I still like a pretty level pad to work with. It just makes everything easier. I water the pad down to compact the soil enough to walk on while building. My soil is pretty kush. This area was a giant avocado grove a long time ago. The first 3ft of soil is total butter.

I laid out some 2x6’s in order to get a feel of the scale. Not bad. She’s gonna be about 12x18. Almost 200sqft. :hump::joint::joint:
Check out some yard art I inherited about 8 years ago. The roadrunner swings with the wind. She’s going to keep an eye on the shed when I’m not looking. :hump: See the bent over nail on the hanger? Yeah, by the end of the day I was beat and my hammer swinging got really piss poor.

I dropped in three 4x4’s where the exterior wall is going to go. Sunk them about 2ft deep and poured in some quickrete cement. I’ll cover up the rest with dirt.

Jumping ahead a bit. You can see where I tied the shed into the new grow room. Pretty heavy lumber on that old shed. I’m thinking everything is going to be pretty sturdy. After I got the all the 2x6’ wrapped around the top and bottom. I started hanging the floor joists. This was at the end of the day and my ass was just totalling kicked. :spew:

The last shot shows kind of gives me a finished feel for the day. I had a really good sense of accomplishement for the day. Wish I had more help …could of maybe got a little more done. I should have some updated pics by this Sunday.

I have yet to decide what I’m going to buy in terms of the grow room. I’m from Norcal so really, I’m just gonna have a few buddies from up there come down and spend some money with me. It should be fun. I might put a small drain in the floor. That could come in handy when I spill something. Cause I will.

I'm looking forward to Sunday cause this isn't a "honey do"!!!

I sure didn't get as much done as I thought this Sunday. I spent a few hours and laid the floor down. Apparently I didn't build this thing perfectly square because 4x8 sheets hang over a bit in some spots. :?

Nothing a saw can't fix. :hump:

Here's a few shots. Not bad. Can't wait to get the walls up this weekend.

looks good man !!!
Has it really been a month :bigjoint:

I suck. Put up a wall and a half today. Things go slow by yourself. Now that the lot is all cleaned up for spring/summer I can focus on important things.

Much more to come very soon guys. Promise...but when my buddies come by they say they want to help but instead we wind up bongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmilie:mrgreen:

Always open to input...

The shed attached is rigged pretty well. Had it done fresh in 07'. Don't know all the goodies but it's fresh 220 my electrician buddy set up. He says plenty of room in regards to amperage. Just left him a vmail to get some basic specifics. Since we're on the subject. :blsmoke:

Once the structure is built (insulated, rocked, etc) a close frien I grew up with as a yute' will aid in the grow set up. I feel I have my core stuff covered but you never know...

In remodeling I always say "you must account for the "might as well list."

"If you're gonna do this you might as well do this. "

Fucking Orlanda Magic are blowin' it in game 5 right now. I hate kobe. You know... not everyone in Ca was born a laker fan. Golden State Warriors (Dubs)are Ca official team.

Just took a quick look. I don't know what max capacity is but I have 130amps worth of breakers already in the panel.

I have a lot of standard shop tools, big compressor, Table saw, chop saw, routers blah blah blah. They don't all run at the same time but the compressor can see very regularl action with a saw running. Once the everthing is framed out we are going to move forward on elctrical rough. But who knows...I don't know what I'm talking about but I Did Stay at a Holiday Inn last nigh.

Details soon.

cant wait to see those dimensions up and running ...get er done..
My buddy says to me "why didn't you cut those 2x4's up top before you nailed them up" I was like "cause I wanted to get them up and get a wall going so I'll just cut them later." He asks "how do you cut them straight?" I respond "fuck I don't know you just do..."

dude are you in Jamaica?

No not in Jamaica but would love to visit. :blsmoke: I hear they don't cut down their plants but trim for harvest and reveg. Could be Bullsh*t so who knows.

San Diego County and SoCal has a very diverse landscape. Seriously in March the radios report on "Surf, Snow and Ski" reports. You can ride the waves or snowboard/ski (not like Tahoe quality) for many months. I can hit the waves in 10min or the slopes in about 2 hours. In between the surf and the mountains is a bitchen mixed landscape of hills, flat lands and mountains. All very lush due to the moderate climate.

I see big fire problems again this year though. Where I live, we've dodged a few bullets. If we go down in flames it needs to happen after my outdoor harvest. bongsmilie

I work from home. Heres my view...with a few alterations to avoid detection.
