please help the ph in my bubble buckets keeps jumping , I am adjusting it to 5.8 but after a couple of hours it jumps to the high 6's. I have two 5 gallon grow buckets hooked to a 5 gallon res, using distilled water,gh nutes on the lucas formula, adjusting my ph with gh dry ph down.

this is normal dude this is why if you want top grade you have to put in the time as the water goes threw your system and plants the ph will change untill it normalizes out threw the hole system this should take about 2-3 days but can sometimes take a week just check every 6/7 hours a day

its been about a week since I've changed the water and still having crazy swings. Do you think I should change the water again

I started using flora kleen for and hour or two during resv change weekly and that seemed to help me out with the problem. Also fluctation in temperature can ph change as will less water in your resv from daily comsumption and evaporation

how new are your grow mediem . if they are new and you just started your grow . have no worries even if you did soak and rinse them they are still going to be alkaline . but it will loose is't alkalinaty after 1-2 weeks and you wont even have to put more ph down untill you change your rez , I started my grow 3 weeks ago and the same shit happend to me , just keep adjusting untill it levels . good luck:bigjoint:

new hydroton should get rinsed good and then soaked in phed water for several days if not a week and a half

I've never heard this before? Soaking anything for a week and a half doesn't sound like a good idea
dont knock untill you try it , how can you hurt the clay pellets by doing that . It worked for me, I had the same problem he did , and an old time hydro grower told me to do the exact same thing I am telling him , just pass what I know works my friend , peace.

it's overly excessive

prep with 1 1/2 weeks is madness when you buy your hydro gear and you have to wait 1 1/2 weeks while your clay pellets soak.

thats 1 1/2 weeks time wasted of germ/vegging

you only need to rinse till no more brown stuff keeps coming off

then soak in PH-ed water and then let it drain and its ready to use.

How long to soak? as little as an hour - a day
