Fluorescent Lighting Question

In my grow room I have no place (due to recessed cielings) to hang a fluorescent shop light for my plants. I have the grow bulbs and I am all set to go, but I have my light resting on basically 2 shelves so each end of the light is propped up. What I want to know is: Is this safe to do or is it a fire hazard? The weight is not resting on the bulbs, but the plastic and metallic ends into which the bulbs connect. The light is also only about 4lbs. Thanks.

a floro shouldn't produce enough heat to cause a fire. it's certainly not the ideal set up though.

Thanks for the feedback! Actually, its working quite well. Makes it easy to not notice too because there are no chains dangling from the ceiling. Plus the plants are about 2'' underneath it with plenty of reflective material.
