so i almost got my setup ready to go but just realised that i have a ducting problem. my aircooled hood is 6 inches, my exhaust holes in my grow tent is 6 inches, but my vortex is 4 inches and i cant find any ducting thats 6 inches on one end and 4 iches on the other end. hell, i cant even find 6 inch ducting. is there a way around this?

I think Lowes has those 6'' to 4'' ducting adaptors.. or just simply tape a thick/strong garbage bag to both ends, as long as the air flow is not too strong and the volume of the garbage bag (section that you ripped off) isn't too large (shouldn't expand with air flow) then it should work...

so i would need 2 of those adapters... one from the vortex to the xhaust hole and one from the vortex to the hood? am i correct?

yea you would need from exh to fan and fan to hood hope you have plenty of room or you are gonna have rigid set up you need room for you flexible duct if i were you i would trade your 4 inch for a 6 inch 4 inch might not push enough air through your hood i would ckeck this out. home depot has those duct adapters they also have cheap 6 inch inline duct fans that push 250 cfms for only $28.00 bucks very quiet also works great

well the 4 inch is 170 cfm, my grow tent is 4x4x7 which equals 112cf. so shouldnt i be good? the man at the hydro store said i would. someone also said i could get an inline booster whatever that is

yea i would say it would be fine with that fan the only point iwas tryin to make is those adapters are about 8 inches to a foot long and you will need two so if you dont have the room for this and flex duct you wont be able to move your light up or down it will be rigid

thanks, i just realised that i have a single 4 inch exhaust in the back of the tent, so i guess i need only one. so their that big huh? that sucks. one more question. how many cfm's do you think i'll knock off by adding a carbon filter? like i said i have 112cf so its 58 cfm left over... thanks again cause im totally lost with the setup process

i got the answer. i could just use 6 inch ducting on the 4 inch vortex and use a clamp to close the 2 inch gap.
