WTF, my system ate 2.000Kw in 1 month? 250w hps?

I just checked my electric counter and it says I ate up 2.000 Kw last month.

I have a 250w hps that was working 18/6, 2x 5w pumps, 2x 18w cfls and a 20w fan

Theeeehell?

That's $300 where I live.

I'm not an electrician, can someone help count how it can add up to 2.000 kw?

Since nobody's interested, I'll try to do some math

a 250w hps let's say turned on 24/7 for 30 days

That is 250 x 24 x 30 = 180.000 = 180Kw - right?

Yet I have 2.000 kw

Things don't add up, or is my math wrong?

it better not be that much i just got a 400w. the book says it should be from 8-20 dollars a month. is that for your whole house?

You must have read the meter wrong. I use 2000k in a year in a two bedroom apartment. What is your normal wattage if you dont count yor growing lights and stuff?

My normal wattage is same as yours, 2000k per year

But this is just crazy, maybe the ballast is broken or something?

You would draw about 25A from that socket all the time In a 110V system. Man, that cant be right.....if theres something wrong with the ballast it would get pretty hot.

yea.. thats seriously fucked...

electric is only 4 cents a kwhr here....
My electricity is like $0.10 per kwhr

I've got 220v

Huh? Can you explain the math please?

It's just that my circuit breaker is 25 amps and it's not nearly fully loaded all the time.

Take away about 200kWh a month for the rest of the house. Thats 1800000W/30days/24h/110V=22.7Amps Edit:220V in your case.....not as many Amps then.

I still think you read the meter wrong...

your math is wrong you have to addeverything up the hps pumps cfls and fan they all use power your total watt usage is 316. thats how much you use every hour that everything is on. plus the power to run your timer. so if everthing is on for 4 hours you will use 1264 kw. rember that is if you have everything on all at once for 4 hours.

Thats not true. 1.265kWh not 1265kWh. You just cant trow in that k anywhere.

kWh=kilowatt hour
Example 1kWh=1000Wh

That seems more accurate, 1kw per month for a system seems good. Can anyone confirm? I'd hate to call my electric company and say hey - I'm growing weed here, wtf is up with your counter?

Mr I Can Do That For Half
Something aint right My bill with couple 600 watt lights,couple 1000 watters and couple 400 watters was under $200 for the month. Last month with 2 400 watter 1 1000 watter and 2 600 watters plus rest of house was only $180. Granted ever house bulkb i have is either a 16 watt cfl or 1.5 led bulb and I unplug everything and dont run house lights at all and I stopped using my lcd big screen but yours is way out of wack

Something no one has mentioned;

Was it an estimated reading or an actual reading? My electric company only does actual readings every other month. When it's estimated sometimes my bill is more than it should be, sometimes it's less. But it always evens out when they come to do an actual reading.

Not sure what you're talking about. I have a counter installed in my house.
