I recently watched something on tv where the guy shined a laser pointer on a camera and it disabled it permently. I have done some research and i couldnt find much but what i have found suggest that it is true. I was wondering. If i had a 100mw Green Laser pointer (astronomy laser pointer ) if this would disable a small CCTV camera. Do you guys know anything or any input you can provide would be awesome

Yea bro, from what I know as well this sounds like it would be more than enough to take one out. A 75mw laser can burn through paper a 100mw could do even more. You have to remember the sensor on those cameras are very sensitive, they have to be. A camera will be washed out if its pointed at the sun, so a laser would do some damage. My advice though would be to get a laser as powerful as you possibly can, just so it can take it out easier and faster.

it would depend on the camera. it would have to be a shitty camera to burn out from a laser. most cameras these days have a ccd (charge coupling device) that regulates the light comin in. I wouldn't buy a super laser unless it's your only hope.
