I BELIEVE I HAVE ALL YOUR ANSWERS, FOR YOU SHANE. -- You should also read my grow journal, near the end of this post I have a REALLY awesome technique, that I believe you could use to avoid anyone seeing your plant no matter if its 5 foot tall! BARE WITH ME!!!

First off, I need to know if your plant is even showing signs of female budding, I mean when they first sprouted and grew up a few nodes; did you pinch the leaves, and later on did it atleast 2 more times?! That's usually what makes a plant grow tall, and split out into like lets say 4 nodes instead of, or 6 instead of 2-4. Do you have male plants, or weeded the males out yet? Just give me a small brief description of whats occuring!

To fix your height problem: let's us draw a diagram- ==|--<-^-<-<
(bad ex. of a plant! lol)
== are the roots, then the | is your soil line, the rest is your plant, however NOTICE the < symbols are your "top buds."

Thus, what you need to do is "top your plant."

1.) Pair of garden clippers.

2.) Your plant is 3 & 1/2 feet tall? I don't see what is wrong with that, that's amazing! Mine are no more than almost 2 feet tall, however they are auto-flowering I think (Which means they bud at NO light cycle, they bud whenever they become mature enough)

3.) Using your Garden Clippers, or Sharp Scissors (Depending on how thich the stalk is on your plant of course) Cut [at a diagonal angle] The top node off your plant. This is hard to do, you will see a bit of space at top then ur top cola; Just cut that whole stem off at the stop, at that empty space!

*If you want it even shorter, try cutting as much off the top as you want the plants height to be!*

*If your plant has buds on these clippings from the top nodes; Even though the buds will be immature & unripe, I recommend drying these buds out, because then while your vegetating/flowering plants continue to grow; you can start practicing the "curing process"*

Questions you may ask;

1.) Why should you clip/top the cola stem/top off the top the plant?

2.) What are the effects of doing this?!

3.) What in the hell is the curing process?!

The answers to your questions:

1.) Simply put: Topping your plant causes your plant to cease to grow tall. Hence, the more you top off the more control you have over how tall it gets!

2.) Soo, that's it? Nope! After the plant ceases to grow tall; There has to be some opposite equal reaction, or some other reason why?! *Your plant will then start to bush out wider, and you'll end up with a 3 1/2 feet tall plant, that is literally 2 ft. X 2 ft.

3.) The Curing Process: Ever get a bud of any decent type of pot, pull it out, take a wiff, and all you can smell is the dankest odor in the world?! These buds were cured in theirselves. (Kinda like a baby who soils theirself :spew:)

The Curing Process
(Questions)

1.) What is Curing, and why should I Cure My Bud?

2.) How Do I Cure my buds?

3.) How long should the curing process go on for?

(Answers)
1.) Curing buds simply put; is like marinating meat for a day or more. The longer you let it soak in itself, in a closed AIR-TIGHT space, the better the taste, etc. From what I can gather, curing is a form of osmosis, where all the moisture extracts itself to the side of the jar; as well as obviously all the THC from the trichomes are entering in and out in and out of the buds. Basically, this is how a bud gets it's delicious smokey fruity flavors, and that's why you should cure, otherwise your homegrown might smell/taste/burn like nasty pine needles!

EWW! :spew:

2.) How you cure bud:
MATERIALS:

-Mason Jar (Works best to see the dew on the glass inside the jar) But, you can even use a paper lunch bag (As long as SEALED shut!)

-Properly dried buds (do not put buds that are not completly dry into the mason jar, mildew will form, and you will ruin your bud.) [you know your buds are dry enough, when you crack a stem, it literally "snaps"]

-Finally, you need atleast ten minutes free time; once a day maybe twice. Alas, A cool, dry, dark spot to house your jar.

NOW, on to the curing process {which sounds harder than it really is. As a matter of fact I can sum it up in three steps; Let's Hope!}

-First Step: Unscrew the lid off of your 'clean & dry' mason jar, placing all the DRY bud you want to cure into the container. Place lid onto the mason jar, and place in a dark, dry, cool place.

-Second Step: This step is VERY important, and requires one to two sessions, of ten minute intervals, where you will have to open the jar, take out your buds, evenly layer them on newspaper, etc. for exactly TEN minutes, then place back into jar. This gives your bud oxygen, which will prevent mold, as well as let's all the osmosis moisture sort of relieve itself out of the bud/jar. REPEAT THIS PROCESS DAILY.

-Third Step: Told you this curing process was simple. Third step, all you have to do repeat the second step, daily.

OTHER THINGS TO OBSERVE FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE:

Reading online these noobies try to write down to everybody that there is a certain set time to do this process?! wtf!

-WHEN CURING IS DONE-
Basically, everytime you do your ten minute airing/rotating of the buds, you will notice moisture along the sides of the inner sides of the jar. THIS IS NORMAL! Since it doesn't get any air, the moisture has nowhere to go BUT out and away from the buds, and right back into them! The buds literally soak in theirselfes, the smell, the trichomes, they all rotate the THC, since this is literally a scientific chemical reaction.
So how to know your buds are done curing: It should take a few weeks, but eventually you will notice that your buds are done curing.

1.) You'll notice no more moisture forming inside the jar.

2.) The buds will most likely look darker, or shriveled up.

GIVING FLAVORS TO UR BUD WHILE CURING:

This is the department, they never hired me in :(

However, I've heard that you can place in your jar along with the buds; AS LONG AS THE ITEM IS COMPLETELY DRY. I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW IMPORTANT IT IS, YOU DO NOT ALLOW MOISTURE TO FORM IN THE JAR FOR TOO LONG!!!

Flavor Additions:

- Oranges, Lemons, Grapefruits (Any flavor fruit you like, with a rind of course) Tangerines, etc., makes a flavorful addition to your already potent nuggies!

-- Make sure to let the rind sit out to dry for a few days until shriveled up, and there is no more moisture in the rind. Make sure there is no moisture. Add this to your jar along with your dry buds @ initial start of curing. Since, you are doing this you MAY possibly want to multiply the "Airing-Out" process, let's say to 3-4 times a day, instead of 1-2, since the rind may have more moisture than you bargained for!

- Also, I've heard of using flavored toothpicks, or dipping regular toothpicks into a type of flavored oil. For example; Once, I got some really tasteless homegrown, that I purchased. I figured since I keep my stash in a gladware container (Which I believe further cures, and keeps buds fresh) I decided to take a regular old toothpick, dipped each side in Peppermint oil/extract, you can even use vanilla extract!
--Place toothpick into your jar, while curing for a smokey, minty taste, or a delicious sweet vanilla taste. If you use toothpics, you probably won't have to air-out more than once or twice a day, since the wood is already dried out!

Well, I've been writing this reply for over an hour... Time to toke up the chronic!!!

HOPE THIS HELPED YOU OUT, AND PLEASE DON'T FRET TO REPLY BACK TO ME, AND LEMME KNOW IF THIS HELPS.

EVEN THEN, IF ANYBODY SPOTTED FALSIFYING INFORMATION IN THIS REPLY; AND HAS HARD EVIDENCE, THAN GO AHEAD AND POST YOUR QUESTIONS/CRITICISM/TIPS.

P.S. ALMOST FORGOT, TRY TYING YOUR PLANT(S) SIDEWAYS (USE STAKES, ROPE, OR WHATEVER WORKS. I DID THIS, AND I HAVE NOT LOST ANY OF MY BOTTOM LEAVES, IN FACT THEY HAVE BUSHED OUT, NODED OUT, & IS ACTUALLY GROWING UPWARDS SIDEWAYS!!!)

THIS IS LIKE NO OTHER PLANT, OR TECHNIQUE I'VE EVER GREW OR EVEN WITNESSED WITH MY OWN EYES!

This is my 1 1/2 foot tall baby! Look at those bottom nodes! Aren't they sexay?!?!

(My sideways/tie down method, was in fact very simple to construct.)

We took down a fence a year or so ago, so I have all these extra, seperate links. Well, I bent them like horseshoes ?following me thus far? & when the plant was about 1 foot tall, ran my finger down to the bottom of the base, and put the stake onto it, into the soil, leaning the plants sideways. I did this for approximately once a week, and while doing this atleast 3-4 times a day, I notice the sun has made the plant arch upwards, well I gently bend the stalk back down to the ground!

Just recently, took the stakes out, and now that they have grown sideways pretty well, put the stakes from the middle up towards the top. This time hopefully, the plant up arch up, it will just grown sideways!!!

LOL!

Soo, what is your question BTW?!

Are you concerned because ur plants is over 3 foot tall, and hasn't started budding yet? WHY would you?

It's not time for your plants to bud yet, it's not EVEN summer time yet!!!!!!!!!

I just happen to be blessed with a shitload of auto-flowering seeds!

But, to get your plants to start showing sex/budding/pollen-sacking in order to remove all males to be able to harvest seedless marijuana which is known as sensimillia, and makes any strain better than it was, especially if the seed came from bag weed! you know what i mean? You get a seed out of a bag, grow it, and do not allow it to become pollenated, wouldn't the bud be way cranked up danker??

Anyways, moving on. No you will NOT kill your plant. Putting a trash bag, or blanket overtop your weed, tricks the plant into thinking it's getting no sunlight, and it will make any plant show it's sex whether male or female.

Good for a few reasons, gets the males to show way before it's too late so you may kill them. (Think about it like your female plants your Daughter, and the males are scummy boys trying to get in her pants!) You DO NOT want to allow a male to pollenate a female, with it's seed-pollen-sac; Unless, of course, you are using very high grade seeds, and wouldn't mind having more seeds from the strain!

On the other note; it's a good idea that you used the trash bag before it got 2 feet tall, thatway you could of forced some females to bud, then take the trash bag off after removing the males; and then you will iterally be budding months more than normally...

God damn, it's amazing how much I've learned since 2003!
