Will an intake be neccassary?

I have a room, 4'x5'x8' divided into two sections, one being 30" on bottom (veg), and the top being flower. On the top there will be a 400w HPS, and on bottom, 2 40w CFL tubes with 4 23w CFLs. On the bottom there are 2 fans, 1 oscillating, 1 blowing into some ducting heading upwards to the room with the exhaust. In the flower room there is an oscillating fan, the carbon filter with a pc fan, and the exhaust is a pc fan connected connected to some ducting. I don't have the HPS yet, so I am wondering if I should set it up before the light will be in my way, right now there is an ambient temp of 77 in the veg room. And it will be checked upon twice a day, so will that co2 be enough?

what kind of fan are you using with the carbon filter, i certainly hope not a pc fan... lol... check my journal.. my setup sounds similar except only 1 level.. its 4x4x6.5ft with a 400watter

I agree with the pc fan. A carbon filter will reduce your cfm. What cfm r u getting with the pc fan?

To answer the initial question... If you have an exhaust setup the amount of air that is exhausted will equally bring in air as long as you HAVE A HOLE IN YOUR ROOM. It's called a passive intake but you must have a hole somewhere in ur room.

not sure how many cfms, couldn't check up on them since i closed at work, but the rooms are enclosed with velcro, the veg room isn't sealed completely, there are some light leaks, so maybe that would work (don't worry, the door is light proofed, so there is something coming in, i just don't know if it's enough

CFM is only part of the equation for a carbon filter. Other 1/2 is static pressure. Some fan styles can move a lot of air, as long as it doesn't get restricted. Other can push air through a restriction with little drop in flow.

well, it's not the carbon filter i'm worried about, because i can feel the air coming out of the filter pretty damn good. i'm just worried about lack of co2

As long as you have proper air circulation with fresh outside air coming in you will have enough co2. But if you wont to invest a little money for a co2 tank and regulator you wont need an intake, just exhaust periodically.

well i suck at paint, hard, so that out of the question lol. but yeah i'm deciding on spraying them with carbonated water as much as possibly, that and the added opening of the door daily, and some draft (its in a garage), it should be fine i realised today
