Who likes the "new" Fox Farm soil?

Not me. Where is the soil? I call it Peat Moss Farm now. I used to be able to make 2 bags out of 1 with my own mixes but I can't do that now. It's all peat moss.

They took the SOIL out of my DIRT!! WTF??!

But seriously, what did they do? The water retention is awesome.........if you like FUNGUS GNATS! I used to love the way my pots felt when they needed watering. I would pick them up and know that they were dry. Now the water forms pockets of mud inside the pot and never dries completely.

Screw peat moss man. I rather have hydroton clay balls in there instead of 50% peat moss. Water pockets suck ass. They never seem to dry up and it fools you into thinking they are still wet but the roots can't get there cause it's too muddy.

I did a comparison with an old bag of FF and a new bag of Peat Moss Farm. The old bag has 0, that's right folks, 0 peat moss. New bag is at least 50% peat moss.

So I'm paying $5 more a bag for the last 3 months (costs me $25 a bag now) and the soil has vanished. Replaced with a ton of peat moss and more perlite.

No doubt the FF soil needed more perlite and maybe a drop of peat moss. The old FF got a bit packed in because of all the soil. It's why I made my own mix and got 2 bags of great soil out of one. But now they are like any other bag of soil out there.

Don't believe me? Well before I spouted my big mouth on here and made myself look like an ass, I went to Lowes and bought a few bags of "Jungle Growth" for $7 a bag. I took one bag of each and spilled them on the floor in their own pile.

They looked almost exactly alike except the FF had a bit more perlite and the Jungle Growth had a bit more peat moss. I went one more step and did a mixed grow with clones of the same type, same room, same everything.

The plants came out exactly the same. Same buds, same height, girth and weight of each plant. No difference at all between the new FF soil and the Jungle Growth except the price tag.

The newer growers may not notice the difference because the change "started" happening about 6 months ago. I say "started" because at first the change was hardly noticeable. A lil more perlite and peat moss was added at first. But now it's all peat moss and less perlite.

IMO, a change was needed but this is pathetic. I refuse to pay $25 a bag that compares to a $7 bag of soil from Lowes.

This is just my own opinion about FF. I was just curious to see what others feel about the "new" Fox Farm soil.

Feel free to comment but lets not get into flames here. There is no need for that. Thx :hump:

FoxFarm has contracted all their sources out now, it is not like it used to be, they commercialized their entire operation now. FF is not what it used to be, and never will again, money=greed, and FF is high on greed now.

So what is your opinion on their soil?

Doesn't it seem just like any other bagged soil now?

Is there other "good" bagged soil out there to replace FF?

Light Warrior is probably what this guy got, it's to use for rooting clones and starting seedlings, not for growing.
Wrong noobar. Looks like we both "assumed" and made asses of ourselves.

I assumed FF Ocean was the only soil used to grow with.

You assumed I was using Light Warrior.

If you HAVEN'T noticed the difference in the FF OF soil then you just started using it in the last 4 months.

I'm not saying the soil is bad.....just not what it used to be.
