3x3x8.5' grow closet setup! Need help

Thats the size w/ a small veg shelf on top about 7" tall.

Will a 400w Digital ballast with a HPS bulb(maybe a MH if i wanna flower bigger plants i will be doing lst around the pot) be enough to grow about 5-10 plants with a big yeild. I will be adding CFLS around the plants as well.

I have a 6" fan bringing cool air from above the closet into the room with a Y split to bring air to the light and the other section to the floor. Exhaust is below the Veg shelf with a DIY carbon filter( looks like the expensive type lol) I also have an oscillating fan. havent tested the temp but it should be ok.

So my question - if your forget is will the 400w be enough for 5-10 plants. (i start with 10 but 50% male so yeah..)

Thanks - i havent bought anything yet but this is my setup when i move in 1 month from now (ive got plans and material costs and im just waiting for the light).

400w should be enough to light your 3x3 space, you typically grow with the concept of 1 plant per square foot.

The setup to your fan is goofy, you want the exhaust to start at your light draw the air through the fan and out of the filter(which is outside the box). Desired air flow is more outake than intake, the space will draw air through cracks and stuff. Plus you won't need a Y splitter.

Im doing soil because i am comfortable with it. Might move to hydro but i have some nice soil called Sea Soil (made in BC, Canada). Im doing BC mango or Purps and Ice or Orange dream from Premier seeds (cause they are canadian gotta support where your from) All seeds are med-high yeild with medium to low smell and 5-7 wks flowering.

What type of exhaust system should i have - i don't get what your saying. I need all the help i can get before i commit to buying my supplies.

only comment i would make is have fresh air coming in from low and not attic since that air will be hot and exhaust into the attic since thats where the heat belongs but more than enough watts per area

Im a a 4 story apartment building. Its this old building converted into about 5 lofts. But there are 3 closets hanging around so i thought id use one. Im on the 2nd floor. When the company that rents gets their electrical bill will they come knocking or does a 400w not produce that much of a difference?
