Should I turn off lights 36 hours before harvest?

I have been reading lately about growers who turn off the lights completely for 36 hours right before harvest. This method is supposed to force the plant to give up its last drops of stored resin. Has anyone ever tried this and if so what were your results compared to not doing this method? Harvesting is just a week or two away for me and I have to start planning it out now. Thanks

howzit I haven't heard that before? but am interested to hear if it does help or not as I'm at approx same stage. sorry that dosent answer your question I know it sucks when no one replys to your posts

Ive heard about it before, but mostly just rumors. You know how it goes.... someone heard something from someone who read about it somewehere else.
In my opinion though, I dont think it helps. I dont see how it would make marijuana stronger.
Maybe it does, maybe it doesnt..... who knows?

I have heard a lot of people say to do this for 72 hours, but one breeder (Seedism) reccomends total darkness for 5 days to bring out the flavour.
Can't say it works or not personally.
I guess you would need to try it with 1 plant and do a Blind tasting to see for sure.

Thats the problem I only have one plant growing. She is HUGE though. I can maybe get 5oz or more from her. Done sooo good so far I just want whats best. I know that if I do not turn off lights plant will be fine so unless I get alot of people of who have done this and was successful I probably wont.
Any help woul dbe great.

I have done this many times to see if it works, I have put 2 in dark for 72 hrs and 2 straight harvest just before lights on. Can't tell which is which. There is no diffence in smell taste, nor thc content. No high was Much Greater than the other.
Lower temps in the last few weeks will make purps darken and I have heard the terpens smell better.

I've been giving my plants 48 hours of complete darkness right before harvest for about 8 years now. it most definitely makes the crystals pop imo.
only difference I've noticed is in appearance. appearance is part of the experience so I continue to do it prior to every harvest.....
