uh....

I hate to bring it up but...

I think it's safe to say there will be some vibration involved, right?

I would hate for the "fins" to rub a hole on the tubing, spilling water everywhere...

Maybe some silicone could prevent some issues, but I would be concerned with the center, where the tubing goes through all of the "fins"..

I haven't been right yet, and I hope that this is the case again, but I believe it's worth a minute to think about it...lol..

Aside from me never being satisfied, I think it looks KICK ASS!

lol, the fins are stuck through the coils, through every loop
they are stuck so damn hard its difficult move by hand
i was gonna weave strap them with some aluminum tig wire
but that's about it, i doubt ill do that either
the aluminum is flat against the loops, its not gonna do nothing
if anything I'm more concerned with the end of the aluminum cutting through the duct, only air will shoot out if this happens

I like your design. Like I said in my post if you go with smaller tubing you would have more surface area. The "S"s would be a bit tighter than I drew them but you get the idea. If the coil design meets your desired cool down of air then you would not need to increase surface area to make it cooler. One thing I brought up was condensation. What do you plan to do about condensation?

I do like the way we all came together in deep thought. Here are some pics of what I was thinking about. When will you hook it all up?

I'm curious, cause i think guys think this is sort of an icebox DIY imitation
I'm utilizing the concept with a much more advance design
for a much more demanding application such as a main exhaust line

another application this can be good for, is reducing attic heat buildup
running this connected to a thermostat that switches on at a curtain temp
and circulating the hot air in the attic chilling it down, thous will reduce AC usage at the house level,
in our application the chiller can be turned off at winter time to help warming up the house

judging by the feedback I'm getting from guys i showed the coil and explained my goal
they all told me to mail myself a sealed envelop with BP and patent this
its a long shoot, but who knows
maybe one day you can get this at your local home depot
what do you guys think, is this possible or am i tokeing to much :wink:

oh dude, i know this is something different than icebox...as this can be used for no exhaust outside rooms....sure you'll have an exhaust, but having the ability to keep within a room is freaking brilliant.

however, you'll have to keep the price cheap like the icebox cuz in essence, its only the 'manifold'. you still need plumbing, chiller, etc etc

but lets fire it up and see what it does

i see what your talking about now
these will not be easy to make, even with a smaller copper
these are pretty tight turns for the material, you need to play with it allot
its not as simple as it looks

this will be placed inside a 12" insulated metal tubing
if condensation becomes an issue, i was thinking of a collection bowel with a drain back to the res
we will not know for sure until its tested under full production conditions

costs are under $100 so far, i cant wait to fire it up
i got to busy with the coil i never got around picking up the chiller

i was looking at the res you got.... thas the ngw res right?

does it have a top to open or something? or is it all sealed? i think i saw it in the ngw catalog.... my first thought was like 'HEYYYYY SoG has this' LOL

yep that's the one, you can find many pics of it in my albums (see RO testing album) it is open at the top!
i love how narrow and sleek it is, the that it comes with straps to secures to the wall
looking forward; if ever needed installing another unit back to back and still maintain a sleek look with minimal space loss
not recommended if you need more than a 4" access at the top, it was a byatch to install the float in it; practically mission impossible!

i was using a brute trash can experimenting with the icebox for the cab....

but the aforementioned one is hella slim. it looks bigger in your pics though...thas why i ask.

worth the 100 plus bucks?

it is a very nice sturdy unit
the only think I'd change about it is a larger access hole at the top
its not that big at all, in my pics I'm doing the test in my shower
and had to used a wired angle to grab the whole unit in the pic,
due to the room side restrictions, and its on top of a two feet stool
I'm a foot taller then the unit(i'm 5'10"), it only looks tall cause of its slim design

may i ask why you need to replace your res?
can you report the DB level and vibration status for unit you got?

i was thinking a 50G camping cooler on wheels, can do a good job as an insulated res

as far as my reason for replacing my res:

the same reason i use 'smaller' tents and cabs

as i just dont have the floor space, so i have to take shortcuts where i can. i already have 1 50 gallon brute trash can for my RO res....with 2 its just even more crowded.

so a nice slim, slender but vertical res tucked away in my storage closet would be sweet and a space saver.

i CANT wait til i find a house with a basement, ive been looking and looking. when i find one.... that is when i can expand like i want to.

loud blunts i saw you refer to thr RO reservoir. do you use ro because your tap water is of poor quality or because you find advantages to the RO water.

my tapwater really isnt bad.... at max it comes out 150 ppms TDS on average about 80-100 ppms


i got it so i can have water in my grow room without being too obvious. and i also got it cuz i like to feed precisely with 000ppms so i know whas going in my water
