Are 3 ceiling holes needed and southern heat issues

Researching it appears I will have to have 3 ceiling holes for venting. The intake and exit for cool tube as well as one for the carbon filter. Soon the southern heat will come and pulling +100% heat might be an issue for thru the air cooled hps? At the bottom of closet entry air hole as well. I was hoping for only to cut 2 holes in the room but my research is not showing it.
What do you guys do for this issue?
Can someone comment please before I start cutting holes in the walls. Here is what I want to go with....

- size room total veg/flower- 8 x 8 x 2 closet

- 400 watt air cooled flower/HO t5 cfl veg.

- S and P TD150 inline fan low noise for carbon filter can 33.
- duct fans 4" for room air entering flower and veg area using a y piece.
- duct fan 6" for air cooling the hps.
- to be determined fan for veg. part of room exit.

I am a do it first time right guy pondering this for a while so comments appeciated.

Was hoping to keep low noise and few room holes as a goal? Thanks

Will you be venting into an attic? I assume so. Is the attic well ventilated? Do you have easy access to the attic and room in it to work? Do you have easy access to vents in the attic leading to the outside? Do you have easy access to electricity in the attic, as in electricity lines running to ceiling lights/ceiling fans in rooms below?

Don't really have enough info on your setup. Is this a house? 1st, 2nd floor, or a basement? You will need 2 holes down low, one for the lamp and one for the fresh air intake. 2 exit holes up in ceiling for exhaust. 2 fans, one for the lamp exhaust, and the other for the room exhaust. If you can pull air from another room, that has A/C, you'll be better off. You can pull a larger volume of cool air. With a 400w lamp heat to lumen ratio is better. Give more details about the setup. outside the room/adjacent.

Or do what I did..

Carbon Filter ---> Cool Tube ---->hole in ceiling ---> fan ---> Attic

I have a passive intake.. Meaning the vacuum from the exhaust pulls in fresh air from the room through intake holes...

I have a 4" inline fan rated at 170cfm, but it's a small closet grow and plenty of exhaust for the room and light... Temps don't go above 85*...

Yes. venting to attic. Not sure what you mean by attic ventilated? All south houses I know are hot as hell in the attic in summer +120% heat June/Sept. There is roof venting as most 2000 sq. ft. houses. The closet has no current venting holes so cutting is in order. I'll use electricity from the closet via bedroom extension cord.

What kind of fan are you using? Size closet? This is the direction I was hoping to go but with all that ducting I thought you would loose air flow? That filter weights about 25 lbs. so worried about that but hanging in the top looks ok? Maybe this would allow only 2 holes in room (lower corner a/c air in and top out.

That is first choice...more info. is appreciated. Need to start soon a little girl is wanting to flower

Hey BTT thanks---how many plants do you get in that size room? That's the size of my flowering part. Have you turned several grows effectively?

btt, you run the duct from your filter to your cootubes, then outside. Do you get any stinky room air drawn directly into the fixture? I was thinking of doing this. I've got a 8" HO fan and can 75 filter, and 3 xtrasun air cooled reflectors with 6" intakes. The reflectors are sealed, but im still worried about air flowing into them, bypassing the filter. also I'm concerned about enough airflow.

Well this is my 2nd grow.. First was in a small cab with CFL's.

I have 27 seedlings as of right now.. But once the males are weeded out maybe 10-15 females..

I plan to do a SCRoG.. I know you shouldn't do it from seed, but I don't mind pulling out the males.
Plus I might veg 6-8 weeks and may get preflowers...

No stinky air room drawn into fixture. The hood is sealed up tight..

If I were you I would put adapters on the hood so you can run 8" duct for your whole ventilation... This will give you max air flow. And remember, it's better to suck air through the filter, the hoods, and out of the room than to try and push it out..
