this grow is almost 8 weeks into flowering and i want to know when to start flushing.
ever eaten a tomato that tastes like fertilizer? think they flush those?

this flushing myth has gone a bit too far. if you're not flowering with miracle gro, or have toxic levels of nutes, THEN you might want to think about flushing. it's important to realize that the plant "eats" and metabolizes it's nutrients into plant matter. you're not smoking fertilizer.

why would you want to deprive a plant of fertilizer during the two weeks that it gains the most weight?

no flames please. keep an open mind and use common sense.

yeah I'd start flushing by eliminating any nitrogen fertilizer now to get that chlorophyll out of your bud. Looks like you got a few weeks to go IMHO.

You got a few more weeks, it looks more sativa to me so you probably got another 4 weeks

this deserves it's own thread, but unfortunately, would be clouded with hate and retaliation. i'll expound, then drop it...

Residual tastes are something that do occur, but are not widely understood. these tastes are the result of buildups of water solubles that the plant is able to take up, but is not able to use. a good example is how cut flowers can draw food coloring, changing the color of the flower.

when feeding plants, you must understand that feeding anything other than what the plants are going to use to create plant matter will create residual flavors. ie, apple juice, molasses, various soil amendments... all of these leave something in the plant that is not used for production, but rather in water retention. when you harvest and dry the plants, the water evaporates, and the residual deposits are left. this is why potent generic fertilizers like greenlight and miracle gro are known to leave a bad taste when not flushed out of the soil for a week or longer. by using a formula made up of only plant nutrients and micros specifically formulated for cannabis, you eliminate taste issues.

20-20-20 is a good generic all purpose fertilizer. however, pot will use more of a 3-2-1 ratio in the veg phase. so, a 15-10-5 would be ideal, and a 20-20-20 would be high in phosphorous and potassium. this will eventually lead to salt buildup, as these nutrients are being absorbed in less quantity than nitrogen.

in flower, pot likes a 1-2-3 ratio (most people don't know this). a 15-30-15 is not a good ratio at all, and leaves a load of phosphorous in the medium, which usually causes a toxicity by harvest. toxicity = bad flavor, you're not going to flush that out :p.

so, if you want to feed until harvest and never worry about flushing OR flavors, start using a specifically designed cannabis feeding formula.

3 part nutes are great, and allow for moderate tweaking to individual strains
Cal/mag, something that most 3 part micro formulas don't have enough of in relation to nitrogen
decent pk booster to get that 1-2-3 ratio closer to perfect

hope this helps!

hold on.... before you do anything... do you know what strain your growing... because it doesnt look filled out enough to be that close to harvest..... if its a strain that finishes in 8-10 weeks, you should defenatly flush, especially seen that your using chemical fertilizers and not weak ones either..... so FLUSH/ RINCE / DRAIN whatever you wanna call it... but if you want good tasting ganja, that doesnt burn and smell strange when you smoke it ....I would Do It.......
Peace

i don't have any links on this pc. canadian suppliers are usually cheaper than us distributors.

i have used bghydro several times, they're a good supplier with enormous variety. search for some canadian stores before buying though, sometimes the price difference is extreme.

That would be why their all not at the same level. It looks mostly sativa to me, you can sorta get a idea of what it is just by lookin at the leaves. fat/wide = indica Skinny/thin = Sativa
