600w MH bulbs

How come nobody sells 600w MH bulbs? Why wouldn't they make them?

Anyone have any suggestion for a good 600w bulb for mother plants?

There arent very many choices. But I use SolarMax. I bought them a while ago, last summer or so, when most of the bulbs were made by Ushio. But some other company took over SolarMax and they have issues now with reliability. I had 3 HPS SolarMax bulbs blow within 2 weeks. But no problems with the conversion bulb, still going strong.
I'd try and find some Ushio brand if you can.

600w conversion bulbs produce the same spectrum. Sunmaster makes a pretty good one. 600w for mothers is overkill though. 400w mh is fine for aggressive re-growth. T5/T8s are fine for the average grower.

A few things...I am planning on having 4 - 8 mother plants. This will be my first time cloning. I want to be able to take 60 +/- clones every 10 weeks. Is this possible with only 4 clones?

If I went with 400mh would that sufficient to sustain the growth for up to 8 mothers? 2 strains with 4 mothers each that is.

yeah a 400 will do just fine for mothers, plants in veg can do with much less light than budding ones

Does anyone know which would use LESS power:

a Sun Blaze 432W T5 fluorescent

or a

400w MH bulb on a electronic ballast

The 400w MH would be more efficient and the perfect choice for what you are trying to do. I am in the same boat. I need to get 60 clones every 8-10 wks from 4-6 mothers. I am using a sunleaves pioneer 4 T5 currently but only because I already have it. If I was starting from scratch I would invest in a 400w MH system.

Is there a large power consumption difference between the T5s and the 400w mh?

......BUMP......

Does anyone know which one uses less power?

a 400w mh on a digital ballast

or a
Sun Blaze 432W 4FT T5

THANKS!

They are fairly comprable in terms of energy consumption. The MH will use slightly less. But the MH will generate the denser growth you are going to want.
