too bad its a made up strain for the movie. its funny how before the movie nobody even thought of the name pineapple express and after the movie a lot of dealer try sayin their shits pineapple express. im sorry but your a dumbass. i live in the pacific northwest and every now and then we get a jetstream called pineapple express so unless u smoked a jetstream then idk. but the dirt does not go from canada to hawaii and mix with the bud in a wierd way like the movie says. didnt your mom ever tell you movies aint real life.Dont mean to rain on anyone's parade, but I have had pineapple express (as in smoked) and it was like pineapple haze and hash all in a bowl of bud, good good high, long lasting, no complaints lol and as for the movies, I like that it shows the "cannoisseur" of marijuana as I am also one
thats 90% true.
When the movie came out it wasnt a real strain, but it is infact an actual strain now. High times did an article on it. I believe they just took some unnamed unreleased strain and called it pineapple express.

I guess you missed it but I had just posted the same thing and the same link in the message before yours.
　
The thing is that just because a strain of pot isnt well known doesnt mean that it does not exist.
I can remember when people on sites like this said G13 did not exist, that it was made up, that it was a myth.
I can remember back when I lived in Illinois and friends would buy herb from people they knew in Indiana and they would buy Bubblegum and tell people what it was and people said there is no such thing.
Later it spread and then became famous. But it existed, just as G13 did, when people said it didnt.
As for using the description from the movie, well that is just good marketing. The person who wrote the line may not have made it up, they may have heard it described that way and used it in the flick.

It was around, like G13 and Bubblegum, and was well known by a limited number of people, but just not people like hang out on sites like this, but now its name has spread and like any strain whose name catches on breeders make their version and call it the same thing to cash in on it being the flavor of the month like just about everyone did with White Widow. Thats what happens, that is what breeders do.
You said it was the flick that is creating interest and not the strain. Well the same could be said about G13. Before "American Beauty" you didnt hear much about G13 and when you did most people said it was a myth or that it was garbage that was just being played up. "American Beauty" hit the big screen and suddenly everyone wanted G13 and it hit the market and it was crossed with almost everything imaginable. Again that is just how things work sometimes. It doesn't mean a strain is garbage if it happens that way. It only means that someone knew about it before most people and knew it was good and used it in a flick.

As for g13, I knew it was real before american beauty, as did anyone who was a stoner way back when. What I usually heard (80's) was it wasn't as good as it was cracked up to be. american beauty made it know to the public at large.

You are contradicting yourself. You said in a previous message that it probably did exist before the flick and now you said it was made up.
　
As I said just because it was not known worldwide before the flick does not mean it was made up. As I mentioned I remember when people said Bubblegum did not exist, that it was made up and the same with G13, but they both existed.
　
People tend to need to believe they know everything, know every strain, and if it is not found at their favorite seedbanks previous to some certain point in time before it became famous it did not exist, that it was made up.
　
Do you think that White Widow existed before it won the Cannabis Cup in 1999 and became famous or was it just made up before that or just came into existence when it won the Cup?
　
My point is just that some strains do exist long before they become known worldwide and they can be damn good, like Bubblegum, and just because someone doesnt know they existed before they became famous or if they became famous because of a flick, like G13, doesnt change those things.
It doesnt matter what a strain is named. It only matters if it is good so what you said about name is illogical.
　
As for someone wanting a Bugatti Veyron, well that has nothing to do with name, it only has to do with it being the fasted production car built and the 1000 horsepower you get with it. It is all about performance and nothing at all about name. The name just happens to come with the performance.
A name does not make something special. What makes the name special is what the product/item is.
