I put the root tip up. It works fine that way.

A bunch of us on here argued about that a while back, and wise old fdd came in and said, "So who turns them all when they grow in the wild? " Bottom line, it doesn't really matter. I always planted mine with the taproot pointing down so it would start seeking the bottom of the pot faster, but if it wants to grow, it will no matter how you do it.
