After losing 30 seeds from dampening off in jiffy 7's which i will never go there again i finally have 10 seedlings in 3 gallon grow bags full of pro mix,I have watered lightly once with warm water and superthrive. At what point do i give them quarter strength nutes??? .They seem healthy just small and not really growing like crazy.5 days old after breaking ground.I have all ten seedlings under a 430 watt son agro.Do i give them more time before nutes??? Thanks

What are jiffy 7's.... I use the esxpandable jiffy PUCKS with 100% success after germination..... Anyhoo, to answer ur Q, normally u would begin the 1/4 strenth nutes when they are either a month old, OR when it has 5-6 nodes.

Jiffy 7's are the peat moss pucks but even under a heating pad on low in a dome in the dark. The moss in the peat pellet was soaked or too wet.I burned White Rhino,Dynamite & God bud seeds. After i finally wised up i'm now going right from paper towel overnight with seed and taproot right into 3 gallon bags full of promix and they seem too like it better .I got more God bud and am trying Blue dynamite also.Basically $500 in seeds and most of the cost was the Greenhouse White Rhino.Anyway thanks for the info appreciate it.

Wow, so ur saying the main cause of ur probs was because the pot dried out and enventually so'd ur seedlings? The thing with the pucks is normally that once they're wet, as they dry, they evaporate, which makes the pucks cold.... which causes cold rooting temps ect... I honestly can't blame u, nor will i ;-)... for swithching to the grow bags from germination. Quite simply, im a 'minimal shock-at all-means' kinda guy. Seedlings are fragile and can quite easily be killed when soo small:neutral: and by putting them in their new home asap minimizes shock and HOPEFULLY the chance of 'hermination' due to said shock....

So true.I only grew one other time about 4 yrs ago.Everything was so smooth because i just went paper towel and seed and taproot right into Sunshine #4.The jiffy 7's i found hold alot of water unless you squeeze out a bit of water. The seeds were wet or way to moist and the roots had no chance for oxygen.By the time i realized 30 seeds were soaked i had lost the Rhino,God bud and Dynamite.Lesson learned and lost a bit of $$$ but more than that wasted 2.5 weeks of time. Now i'm on track finally and looking forward too growing God bud from JOI and Blue Dynamite. Also i guess having too go back three times for seeds is not all bad considering the two brunettes who work at kind seeds are totally incredible looking. Thanks again for info.

bongsmilieDamn bro, sounds like u've had ur share of probs with the jiffy's... so the got to wet then... or too dry? I've only done like 6 grows myself, but on ALL of them, heat and humidity has been an issue until planted in their new 1gal. pots after sprouting. Cept mine all tried to DRY OUT and be terribly cold.... nonetheless, a bit of a spray with the ole water bottle kept em plenty moist and temps... well temps were pretty chilly since i don't wanna waste my 400w. HPS bulbs on sprouting.... i tried the heating pad under em and all it did was dry them out more, so, more of the spray to keep em moist ya know? I myself am real close to sayin screw the peat pucks and puttin em in the 16oz. cups till they're ready for transplantbongsmilie

Well after 2.5 weeks of playing with the peat pellets too wet then too dry then too cold.Basically a guy said look.Keep the heating pad always on low never medium or hot.Low is perfect under a dome with paper towel damp in total darkness. In the morning usually atleast 7/10 seeds will show taproot if not all. From there forget the small cups and 1 gallon.Put them in 3 gallon pots or grow bags with either Sunshine #4 or Pro mix hp.Sow the seed just below soil level loosely with taproot pointing up cover loosely and basically you are good too go.Bat guano this ,fox farm that.Simple is best when growing 10 plants or less like me.My last grow went great and this one will be good also but germination with peat pellets ,aka jiffy 7's never again.Just an added step not needed like transplanting from 1 gallon into 3 gallon.I'm going too grow G13xHash plant aftr this cannot wait.Always wanted this strain.Anyway Sunshine#4 or Pro mix hp solid stuff, easy and no fuss, very airy and sterilized.Take it easy.
