Here is the proto diamondplate hood...

Well here is some pics of a small prototype diamond plate light hood I made and some prelimb light tests. And I have to say I am very optomistic about the use of aluminum diamond plate for the DIY folks! Its about 24"x18". Just a starter. The thing I was personally wondering about was this.... German dimpled alum vs alum diamond plate. I included some pics to explain and wish I would have bent it in reverse!!!!!!! I hope the pictures of the light footprint will speak for themselves. Like I said, should have bent it with the diamond plate side too the inside. Stay tuned. More to come on this.....

Wow what a chore getting the pics uploaded. Anyway, can any of you see why I wish I would have done in reverse? I have always wondered about the "German dimpled" principle. And the one day diamondplate came too mind. I am not sure about the rest of you, but it makes much more sense to me now. Fewer hotspots. Alot more bright spots so that must reduce the heat at each point. The light can find those leaf or buds that were once hidden by shadows. And what I am going for is max use of a 400w light. Small gauge diamond plate is cheap, easy to work with and doable for most anyone. EXCITED!
