I posted constuction of a flood and drain table. You can buy them 4' by 4', Wouldnt leave much room to move around. That room is about the same size as my flowering area so I have a pretty good idea of how it could work. Do a little research and come back. VV

i realy dont wanna do more research i have countless articles about this on my computer that i have read a couple of times over. so would a flood and drain table be better or using pots and having there own flood and drain pipe? i just wanna check all my info is right before i start growing then realise i have left sumthing out or am doin sumtin wrong

Well, what might determine that for you is your height retrictions. A set of pots can sit on the floor, but pots in a flood table must be elevated, so it will drain.

It isn't complete yet by far, but I thought these pics would give you good idea of what it will be like when finished. I use the SOG (sea of green) method on this setup. I can grow 11 plants and get about 7 oz. of bud in a space the size of a closet in about 45 days. (depending on a lot of factors of course, but that's just an average)

Total cost to build this unit is less than $40.00 USD.

1 - 30 gallon tote box with lid
1 - 3 or 7 watt submersible pump
PVC glue

hey just looked at the post how much it cost you? it took a wial to find but now i found it i think i luv u lol u seem to know alot about this ay just wondering will it more likely be to hot or to cold in my shed its 1.5 meters by 4 meters and using a 400watt hps. i am just trying to chop down my costs as i am finding it hard to get the 2000 i need for this project so thinking instead of a reverse cycle a/c buying a cooler or a heater to suit the temperature best and getting a reverse cycle a/c in a couple of grows time

The key to cost on that flood and drain table is making more then I table. The pond liner I bought at Home depot comes 15' long. I bought 4 linear ft @12.88/ft. with tax its $54.00. It will cover three tables that size. The plywood was around $18,00 and also will do three tables. I'll add a cost break down to that post for those interested. VV

a 400 watt light will cover 12 plants on that size table. You could increase your yield by 66% by using a 600 watt or a 8-bulb 4' t-5. Then you can increase to 20 plants instead of 12. The 400 is what i started with and I'm upgrading as I can. VV

i have just realised that all of those things for the flood and drain table i get as packaging for my work and we just chuck it out so might just chuck it in my ute next time. so it will be free that takes costs down a bit. i will probably move onto the 600watt after i move out or sumtin because i live with my mum and dont want power consumption goin up to high or she will prob get wise to it.

This reply is a bit off-topic but when I read the above-quoted post I couldn't help myself...

Speaking as a responsible cannabis user, growing in your parents' home without their permission is incredibly disrespectful and stupid - if your garden was discovered by law enforcement, regardless of how many or how few plants you have, your parents could potentially lose everything they've worked for - house, car, boat, whatever - simply trying to keep you or themselves out of jail. In the States the DEA would make an example of a situation like yours. Even if you live in a country with more lenient marijuana laws, growing in your parents' home without their permission and going to great lengths to keep it from them is just dishonerable. I'm not trying to flame you, man, I'm just hoping you'll rethink your grow strategy and show a little more respect for the people who keep a roof over your head and food in your mouth.

Yeah if mum doesnt know dont do it but if she knows...The clear 2 liter bottle make a root issue so make them dark.A 8 x 4 flood table is only like $150 the drains about $4 each need 2 the res about $10 bucks the hoses about $12 and the pump about $30.You can make a stand out of pvc or cheap saw horses. The fold up plastic ones are only like $19 a set of 2.So for around $200- 225 you have the setup.Use a 400 watt light on a light mover and you can stuff a bunch of plants in the 4 x 8 table just lollipo them and top them.400 watt light on 24 hours a day only runs about $25-40 a month

im just gonna ignore the second last comment as u dont know my mum she doesnt own anything and me and my sis are the only income she has the house is only in her name we pay the rent so figure makes it my house lol.
yer 250 is alot to me as i am a apprentice atm so thats a weeks wages lol i can get conjuit from work for the hoses and fitting and i have a old bed that i have built up a bit higher which should work ok for the stand which brings it down to about 190 if i use a store bought table or like 40 if i make 1 myself. seems best to make 1 myself how many plants do u recone i could grow under a 400 watt with no light mover? how many ounces is average for a grow of about 2 months of somthing like super skunk or ak47 or blueberry?

you can buy a 2x4ft tray table for only 35 dollars, its nice and convineint then you just build a horse thing stand for it. I dont like homemade tray tables its made of wood, heavy and you can't really move it around as easy as a plastic tray table. for 35 dollar i think thats a deal, you put your time and effort into building one with wood that just doesn't make sense to me.

its still a big chunk of wood. and besides your rockwool will be sitting on top of a flat surface but if u buy a tray table it will have proper drainaige.
