suggestions on where to go for honeymoon

me and my girl friend are getting married at the end of July this year. we cant decide where to go on our honeymoon so i thought id ask for peoples suggestions.

ive looked at Orlando, Florida but with all the extras on top its working out too expensive. things such as car hire.

we are both 22 years old, i have had a full UK licence since i was 17 but would prefer to go somewhere where i didnt have to drive as the missus doesnt drive at all - its my holiday as well!

anyway, looking for somewhere hot, doesnt have to be a long haul flight. dont really want to go to places such as Spain where all the other UK tourists are with british bars everywhere but wouldnt mind places with water sports and things.

oh and it has to be as cheap as possible. flights and general spends. we have accomedation sorted out as i can use my mums / dads timeshare pretty much anywhere in the world. we're looking at going for a week.

so, put your suggestions forward and ill have a look around the internet for prices.

ok things we would be looking to do:


  • relax in the sun, whether thats on a beach or by the pool

  • activities such as water sports - no bungie jumps! althought maybe since its our honeymoon,lol

  • some shops - rare shops, not like Mcdonalds where u see on every block of every country

  • nice locals - no trouble / fights


  • cheap prices on nice food and booze


  • anything else interesting such as cigar making!!! yeah, have me a fat cigar at the beach

and anything else women like to do,lol. :cuss:

just recently come back from amsterdam in feb :p and we was going to look at going there for 1 day on the way back from our main holiday :p

jamaca probablly too expensive for flights. looking at around £1000 +

Dude go to the Royal Decameron Club Caribbean in Jamaica. It's nice, Cheap, and since you're from the UK you'll find yourself right at home. The weed is good, and plentiful. You should check it out.

How about an all-inclusive to SE Asia, the Maldives or Utila or something like that?

BTW, did you take your smoking habits in consideration? A honeymoon of two potheads withdrawing is every man's nightmare.

im scared of boats, so no cruises. i hate those things, make me so paranoid i wouldnt be able to enjoy it.

whats that, like a club or something? as in night club. what difference does it make that im from the UK?

well my gf doesnt really smoke. she will if its on offer and we dont have to look after our son - like amsterdam for example, she smoked then but only coz there was nothing else to worry about or do.

i smoke quite alot but tbh thats only coz my day to day routine is so busy and it gets me down. I.E working 7am - 6pm then getting home, gettin some food and going to my 2nd job, 8pm - midnight. 6 hours sleep in the week! normaly light up to put me to sleep and calm me down. wouldnt be bothered if i had no pot on holiday

isnt there a big tourist scene there? loads of boozers all night etc

No it's a resort. It's all cottages, beachfront and gardenview.
Because this place started out as an old hippie hangout for british travellers.
So it's geared somewhat towards the British Holidaymakers.

Turkey's nice and cheap too, find somewhere on the turquoise coast, loads to do, friendly people, everyone speaks english. go at the beginning of the season if you can though

Sharm El Sheikh is at the Southern tip of the Sinai peninsula. Some single women go there for sex with locals but it is not a sex-travel destination. Divers love it because some of the best dive sits in the world are there. If you are into that, you won't regret it. The only problem in July it will be very hot. Makes sense if you spend a lot of time in the water and/or AC-hotel room. Don't go there for food nor culture, but shopping is great.

Really? Everyone I seemed to talk to said there flights were cheap, and I went in january. Yeah look into it...if possible...you'll have a great time.
