I'm sorry to hear about your friend sunny.. we did make all precautions, and a HELL of a lot of research went into our decision, we were prepared to deal with a surprise breech birth or cord wrapped around the neck for example.. there are certainly circumstances that warrant hospital and doctor intervention of which we were also aware of and prepared for..
but another side of things I noted was that even if you're in a hospital, even if you took all the precautions, bad results can always happen.. babies still die in hospitals, some from unneeded intervention as well..
For me, personally, I took responsibility for my birth, good or bad, and if something rare that we wouldn't have had enough time to transfer for would have happened, honestly, I would have rather been left to grieve in my own way alone holding my baby. I would have had to live with my decision and work through that.... Too many people seem to want a guarantee and put blame on others for their health care decisions.. another reason our health care system is such a mess, rampant lawsuits..
But as I said before.. I wouldn't tell anyone to do what I did.. but I do encourage everyone having a child to do some research, you may be surprised what you learn.. only when you are educated about your choices and the ramifications of those choices can you make an informed decision on what is best for YOU.. go with what resonates best with YOU...
I will say this though, LOL.. my placenta wasn't sold to be made into anti wrinkle cream, and my baby's cord blood is in her body where if belongs, not be sold also for a profit.. no DNA for any database was collected from my baby and she wasn't pricked and prodded in her arrival to this side.. the only hands laid on her during that amazing time was loving hands of family.. Ok, I'm gonna hush up now.. I'm seriously still in such awe of her amazing birth.. I DID IT!
