whats with the kelvin rating on HPS lights?

I've been thinking about investing in at least one 70 or 100 W HPS, but the issue is that I cannot find any that are rated at 6500K. I've been scouring the internet for a few days now, and all I can locate are 2100K bulbs. So my question is, do hps bulbs come in any thing other than 6500K, and if so, where do I find one?

Why fuss over the kelvin rating with such a small light anyway?

Just remember, the higher the number, the further into the blue/purple/ultraviolet spectrum it gets. I could be wrong, but if I recall pure white light is somewhere around 5000K.

most hps lights cannot produce much light above the 4500K line or so. that being said they do sell hps bulbs with what they call an enhanced spectrum which offers up to ~60% more light in the upper kelvin range. if you really want light in that range either go with an enhanced spectrum bulb or a metal halide light
