That is a funny little setup. I'm not knocking it, I like it. It would look normal except for the power cord coming out, haha.

I think it might get too hot. Are you using a cfl light. They are more efficient than incandescents as far a light, heat and power consumption.

One tip that helps is using google site feature. Type - site:rollitup.org pc grow - or whatever you want to look at.

You might want to check out other people pc grows. A lot of people grow in hollowed out pc's and that is about the same size as your deal.

good luck.

hey,

its a start, I would recommend when the plant is going into flower, or even vegging to add more lights.
I am strictly a flourescent grower and i like to have like three bulbs on a plant. one on the lower bud sites, and two closer to the top. it really does make a huge difference. Also, make sure to use flourescents, incandescents dont really work. One more suggestion is that you replace the tinfoil with mylar, far more suitable for growing. (sorry if i am wrong and that is mylar).

was that seed feminized? if not i would sprout a few more. that plant could be a male and be no good.
also, you might run out of room in that suitcase, unless you flower very quickly.
good luck

Yeah I will change the setup when I build one with wood. but meanwhile need to use the suitcase. My question is what type of lights do you recommend to me?
Also if I buy the little fan do you guys thinks that they will grow healthy untils I change the plants to another bigger setup?

Thanks

jact55 will have to tell you the lights to use, i use hid.

I think the biggest issue will be ventilation. I don't know if you plan on keeping it closed, but the air will get stale and the plant will breath up all the co2. So you don't just need to move air around in the suitcase, but you need fresh air in old air out occatsionally.

If you aren't planning on keeping it sealed I would just leave the lid/ top cracked a little to vent out heat and draw in fresh air.

The fan will be good to circulate air, that is a good idea as well, just not as important as cycling clean air in.

How big will the wood case you are going to build be. If it too is short, you probably want to start the 12/12 light cycle soon to get your plant flowering as short as possible, so you don't run out of room.

Yeah actualy I keep it sealed to take the picture but right now is complete open. so it can get fresh air.

And can you put the thing in a closed closet or something when the lights are off, so you can still keep it open, while keeping it in darkness? That would be good.

Even if you don't get mylar, you should tape up printer paper or something. I think the problem with foil is that it can catch and focus the light weird, and I think you can burn your plant if you get unlucky (not sure why it's bad, but everyone agrees on here it is). My closet is simply painted flat white, but I don't think painting he inside of your setup would be good.

Is it a bagseed you planted?

I used 23 watt compact. For three plants I think i had eight bulbs focused on the plants. between the reflectors and bulbs i dont know if it is that cost effective, but you dont have to worry about over heating. I yeilded on ounce and a half. and really that was off of 2 plants, one was an unhealthy runt that only yeilded a dub, haha. here are a few pics of the grow. i dont really see a reason for me to switch to mh or hps, exept for yeild, quality was top notch

this is my first time submitting pics, so bear with me, i think these are 4 weeks in with a ways still to go

ya there are places to buy. my plants above are just bagseed. i have never had any quality issues with bagseed in four grows. I am just now ordering seeds. I am going through attitude seedbank. there are thousands of strains to choose from. I spent over a week deciding what i was going to get. there is a thread dedicated to quality seedbanks, I would look into it.

I am getting
Nirvanas- bubbliscious
big buddahs- blue cheese
paradise seeds- white berry
and some freebies- diesiel and thai x super skunk

so excited!!!

Yeah man, you can mail order for seeds. They are very pricey so be preparred. I think good femenized seeds are like $100 for 10.

You might already know, but seeds can either be mail or female. You find out by growing the thing for a few weeks until you can determine the sex of them. If you have a male, you will probably want to kill it and start over, waste of effort. If a girl you are all good. If you have more than one and one is a girl and another a boy that boy can pollinate your girl and you have seeds.

So... if you are ordering seeds, unless you are going to try to make your own seeds later... I would get femenized seeds. They are like 95% female or something.

Check out Attitude seedbank. I hear good things about them.

I didn't even see you were new jact55. Did you sign up to help people?

It is really awsome that your first posts are helping out another brand new member (not like I've been around forever or anything).

ya they are cfl lights. i dont have a pic of that but i used a simple hood with a clip on it. all you have to do is screw in the light bulb and plug it in. they are 7-10 bucks at lowes or home depot. i also used the same exact thing you are to hang cfls down on lower bud sites.

to use the clip hoods, you would have to change out of your suitcase. if you are using wood, i would suggest just putting a couple screws right in the wall of the box and clip it on. super simple and when the plant grows just move the screws up.

also, you want to keep the flouros within 2-4 inches of the plant, just not touching.

How much time of light my plants need?
Well, there are two phases in growing, vegitative and flowering. The vegitative (veg period) is usually 18/6 light/dark, but it is possible to run the light more than that, just your taste really. Some people leave the light on 24 thoughout veg. Some say the roots really grow during the dark, so I like some dark. I ran 20/4 for my veg.

When you switch to flower you need 12/12. And this is very important to not let light get on the plants during the dark part of flowering. The light can make them think it isn't time to flower and they can revert to veg, or turn hermaphadite (half male/ female). This will not kill the plant or something, but it deffinitely messes up the final product.

You should read up on the differnt phases.
