That ones just going to be hard to beat ROFL....

Another comment on this system. Its built more so like an areo system but he is trying to ebb & flow with it. Another option to modify this thing to work would be buy some 2in drain pipe and a 90 degree angle connector. Drill your hole in the drain end but on the side of your elbow connectors and this hole is drilled up high enough so that there can be an inch or more of watter laying in the pipe that wont drain out. This hole is then fitted with the 90 degree connector and a pipe from that connector to your resivor. Doing it this way its still then an ebb & flow however I am pretty positive that you will have roots clogging that 2in pipe towards the end of the grow if not sooner.

My opinion is this, if your dead set on a Ebb & flow then turn the tote you have as your res into Ebb & flow by cutting holes in the lid for your net pots and add a dripper for each net pot. If your dead set on making this system work then I would take one of my first 2 suggestions and fit the system with 1 sprayer on each side of each net pot.

If you dont make a change and try to use that as is it will be a sad thing to get that nice old wood dresser all wet.

pls listen to syriuslydelyrius

we both brought up the same points.

we are only trying to help, i know you are dead set on the piping because you already bought it

but for 10-15 bucks you can get some trash cans and trays/lids and make your own custom ebb and flow setup. i can post pics, its really simple

we are only trying to help. as this will NOT get you through seed to harvest.

it may be a good rig for you to veg them up quickly, but those roots will explode, no bullshit.

and then once the plants are already in the system and the roots are full its gonna be a pita (pain in the ass) and a super serious headache getting the plants out and remedying your situation, IF NOT damaging the roots killing the plants.

always try to work out the kinks ahead of growing so you'll know and save yourself the trouble.

I run an ebb & flow but mine is what I would call "high end" Its on this is the one I have http://www.hydroponics.net/i/273036 Except I have it split up with 18 in veg 18in bloom I had to buy more stuff so I could have a resivor for each. Yeah yeah you can build a cheap do it your self rubermaid tote system or even build one like mine for alot cheaper than I payed but hell I had the cash and lacked the time so a big thanks to the UPS man ROFL!!!

i'd rather diy with buckets than those rubbermaid bins...there was a tutorial on here somewhere, but shit i feel you, got the money, spend that shit....

i know i like my cool grow toys and gadgets.

i run aeroponics, ebb and flow and a few other systems

i like to build shit and experiment

I'm not really dead set on the ebb & flow. If you definitely think it'll become a problem then i guess i'll have to go with the nutrient film technique. I already have these sprouts about a day away from being ready and if im gonna have to make these changes i'm not going to be able to plant them and the roots will be hanging out the bottom of the rockwool.

i mean shit, you could even go aero in those pipes...it just all depends on what you wanna do. also know that the roots will explode, i cannot stress that enough

I would rather go aeroponic. but that would require more drilling, which would put PVC scraps into the pipes and i'm not sure how i would clean that out.

EASY....

You cut off the the drain side connectors and cap one side bend the pipe so the end with no cap is lower than the caped one. With both of those connectors cut off just tip it upside down and dump them out.

If your going to add a 3way t-connector you will be also cutting a section of the pipe making it possible to empty the shavings.

I suppose you could buy a piece of that thin sink supply pvc water pipe, cut it into 2 parts (one for each each of your 4in pipes) Cap the ends of these pipes and drill a bunch of very small holes in the sides all over this pipe and put the capped end so its touching the 2 elbow connectors on one side and cut the elbows of the other side and leave them open both emptying into the bucket. You could also not drill holes into that smaller PVC you could drill that while completly outside the unit to fit your sprayers.

Nevermind about that, high moment I guess.

I rethought and engenerred your system so it would work 4 differant ways and didnt receve any +rep or any comment or questions about the suggestions, so I am about to unsubscribe from this post and wish you the best of luck. However I am curious as to what change you make and what kind of success you have so I will stick arround for a bit to see what you do.

I was going to make a system almost just like yours and seen first hand the root clogging everyone is refering to.i just bought 2 30" planters and drilled a hole in the bottom corners that drain water into a tray that returns the nutes back to my bucket i grow six very healthy great purples.Hate to say it but there right

Alright guys, thanks for all the advice. I decided to turn it into a NFT system so the roots wont clog, I also turned it into a 8 plant system instead of ten, because I had to inorder to fix it. Thanks for all your help, i'd give you +rep but you'll have to explain how.

I'm going to add that when I did this I pre drilled everything, washed with bleech, primed and glued everything, and rinsed. Nasty stuff on PVC from the factory

This is looking better. Your going to want to add a piece of pipe to that elbow connector thats leading to your res then cover that res up and put a hole in the lid to fit the drain pipe. I personally am not an expert when it comes to NFT however this system should be alot more useable for you now than it was before. I am an ebb & flow dude.

To add rep to someones post you found helpfull goto there post and look at the post # to the right of that is a scale icon click it and add a comment and includeing your avatar name is a good thing to do as well.
