are the buds snapping off the branch?
thats when i know they are dry... just bending the branch isn't relevant.

sounds really dry... did you have a fan blowing right on them?

the buds are snapping of the branch,i had a fan that was blowing on the side not directly on them, maybe the smaller buds dry quicker and the bigger ones seem to be less dry,can i start curing the smaller buds and then just add the bigger ones in a day or 2

5-6 days is about right - start curing the lot now! Open for 10-15 mins twice a day for a week or so then they can be stored...

Oh yeah - give us some bud porn whilst yer at it! :fire:

this is why im not a fan of the whole dry til the stems crack business.

The outside will usually become too brittle to handle before the moisture is extracted from the stem. i usually go from hanging, wait about three days, then paper bag for a couple days making sure to burp the back, then hang again for a day or two then into jars.

good luck, takes a week or two of curing before the desired smell comes back to the bud. GL

I read that if you harvest too early, the chlorofill taste will stay in the weed, as it is best broken down in the plant...
The advice I have been given is to wait till I see actual discouloring of leaves before harvest...

ANY TRUTH IN THAT?

Yes it is very true. Most nutes for flowering have very little nitrogen, but even better are the bloom boosters for early, mid, and late flowering you add to your base flowering nutes. These boosters provide enough nitrogen for vigorous growth during the first weeks of flowering, and enough for when the buds put on a bunch of weight mid-late flowering, and very little late in flowering causing the plant to use up all it's reserves in it's leaves. My flowering regiment starts mild and increases in strength with week 5.5 being the highest PPM and then week 6 and 7 stepping down each week. Week 8 just water and then I flush with a week to ten days left.
If your nutes are on point then about week 7 you should see the leaves getting lighter. Week 8 the big fan leaves should be yellow and smaller leaves getting lighter too.
But if your leaves are not changing don't sweat it, a good cure can break down the green in the bud too. Leaves losing their green late in flowering is just a bonus of an on point nute line-up, but always look at the trichromes to see if your bud is truely ripe. It does not hurt to sample a small bud for quality of high before you decide to chop... :D
Flushing the soil removes other excess nutes, especially P and K. Ever smoke a bowl and see it sparkle and taste like crap. Too much P and probable not flushed.

I would jar them with a small orange peel to rejuvenate some of the moisture just for half a day and cure them. Should be just fine!

Are the buds that dry all the way through or only that dry on the surface? If they are only that dry on the surface you could risk mold by curing them now. If they are that dry all through the buds then you can can cure.

Your temperature range was very close to being correct, 18C to 23C (64.4F to 73.4F and you should be in the 65-75 degrees F range) but your humidity level must have been to low for your buds to dry out that much in only 5 or 6 days, that is unless they are really tiny.

At humidity levels lower than 45%, the marijuana will dry too fast and the taste will suffer. At humidity levels higher than 55%, the marijuana will take a long time to dry, and it will be prone to mold.

You can try doing what cigar smokers do to moisten their dried out cigars and that is to take a clean sponge and soak it and then squeeze out as much moisture as you can and then place the moist sponge in a sealed container with your bud. The moisture will transfer from the moist sponge into your bud.

i've dryed a large amount before... but i did it by 'feel'. this time i'd like to do it by 'weight'. i've heard that you can weigh your bud wet and then shoot for a percentage of that weight to let you know when you've hit the ideal... like "75 percent" ... so ... the bud should weight 25 percent as much as it did... or 75 percent as much ?!

thanks, i'm retarded. :-P

that makes sense,is there a perfect percentage you should aim for and is it the same for every strain

oh, yah, that's right... i'm bump'in the hell out of this !!!

(EDIT: woops, i'm lazy, i found it: "Keep in mind, a bud weighs more when fully ripe and freshly picked. After a proper dry and cure, the average loss of weight is around 75 percent."
