600w vs 1000w hps sunmaster

right, my tent is 2m high, and i was looking on the HTGsupply website for the sunmaster HPS bulbs, and i seen that a 600w bulb costs $75.95 and yet a 1000w bulb costs $73.95!!!!!!! WTF? why is a 1000w cheaper?

also could i use a 1000w in a tent??? my tent is 2.4m wide by 1.2m long, i was going to use 2 x 600w bulbs, but seeing that 1000w ones are cheaper im just wondering what would be best!!!????

I'd go with the 1000 watter, you have the same problems with the 600 watter. Most local stores don't carry anything over 400 watts so you still have to order what you need. You get better results and the bulb is cheaper with 1000 watts.

Get the 1000 watt setup and be happy !!!!!!

bloody ell i have a bite!!!! will be 2 x 1000's how much more expensive in electric is the 1000w compared to 600

I have a 600 w hps and here is the bulb I use, I never could justify spending a $100 per bulb. These are only $40, and have never given me any issues.

I'll second the opinion on HIDHUT bulbs, never given me a problem either.

For that size tent, I would use a 1000w. Anymore than that will be a waste and you'll have some real troubles with heat.

1000W is better for larger plants, you get MASSIVE buds, 600w is generally better for SOG. But, it all boils down to personal preference. I personally like 1000w because of the bud sizes, and how CO2 is utilized with 1000 watters.

go with the 600. the only people reallly using the 1000s over the 600s are if they have been growing for a while and didnt have access to 600 or if they were doing a slightly bigger area.

if you are going to do a 4x4 go with the 600. you will have less heat issues. if you wanted to go to a 6x4 or something a 600 prob wouldn;t cut it as where a kilowatt may cover the area. you are in a tent tho, get the 600 and keep it cooler. invest the money saved on another inline fan to suck the air and one on the other side pulling it out too, you will be stoaked.

Really ? I thought 1000 watt was the de facto standard when it came to growing. I use 400 watters now but keep eyeing the 1000 watt fixtures. My plan has always been to get a 1000 watt fixture.

Do you have some more details on why you'd choose a 600 over 1000 ? The only reason I can see is if you think you might have a cooling problem other than that 1000 is the way to go.

I'm not sure what make it is since there is no writing on the bulb or package. Hidhut has them made for them. And yea the company is based in the US, and since your from the uk the bulb is even cheaper because of the exchange rate, it only ends up being about 25 GBP.

And la9, the cost/benefit ratio is much better with the 600 w. They produce slightly less lumens than a 1000w, but consume a significant amount less of electricity.

mmmm but i wud have to get 2 x 1000w's which will increase my monthly bill a bit too much im thinking!!!
im growing 16 decent sized plants in 8 dwc's 2 per tub to about 5 foot at harvest!!!
and those CO2 set ups are really expensive!

600w hps on average put out 90,000 lumens.

Yes a 1000w light will out perform a 600w light, it emits 40% more lumens, but it also consumes 400 watts more of power, which mean much higher electricity bills.

Maybe the difference is you are worried about the electric bill, my only concern is growing the best bud anywhere in the world. 60,000 more lumens sounds like it is going to make a big difference. I'm still voting for the 1000 watt fixture.
