The plan?

Hello everyone!

This is my first grow, im a newb....


Heres the plan: I have a 12 plants in bigger jiffy pots under lights in a grow box with fan... They are 2 days after planting right now...

Plan to put outside after last frost (prob. around may 1st)....

This weekend im getting some better lights, plan to use 800w HPS at least for them, got ghetto lights now because the one i was supposed to buy got sold on me and i had already started germination...

I have (1) 4' 80w total flourecent garage light and (1) 500w unknown "under car workshop buddy" light that is pretty hot...



Heres the questions:

1.) will they be ok until this weekend when i get a better light?
2.) will this plan to move outside when they are about 2 months old be ok or would it induce flowering too soon? I have them on 24/7 now but will moving outside mess the light cycle up or am i just dumb?


Sorry for the ignorance, im new to herb growing, im a mycologist by preference but wanted to get my hand in on this years crops...

Whats a good temp/humidity range for inside?

You dont want to exceed 85 degrees on your plant. 90and they start to fry.

I dont know the natural light cycle where you live but generally speaking if you placed them outside they would veg natually until the light schedule changes which would induce flowering.

That 800 HPS is gonna be alot hotter then your cfl's so be prepared if you need to get ventilation for your hood.

The room the grow box is in is about 40deg F... cannot control that but the inside of the box is about 75 right now and about 60% humidity... I dont have CFL's i have regular ghetto florescent shop lights... (until this weekend)... IS THIS RANGE OF TEMP/RH OK?

Thanks man, yeah i will lower for flowering is it ok for veg though? Yeah shop lights are there only for now until the 800w hps setup gets here then it will be replacing those lights... The heat is ONLY coming from the one shop light, because outside the box the room temp is 40deg F... But it will warm up soon when the weather keeps staying warmer....

I think you missed that Jug. If your temp is 75 in the box from 1 shop light, an 800 hps is gonna make that room 100 degrees unless you have a "glassed" vented hood.

No i understood... Its only 75 in the box because i have 2 lights...

1 is the shop light florescent the other light is the heat source its a 500w light buts its the ones used to work on cars that heat up and will burn you in like 2 seconds if you touch them, its raising the temp.... Both those lights will be gone and the only heat will come from the HPS, shouldnt be any wear near as hot cause the room its in outside of the box is only 40deg.... You know what i mean, maybe im wrong i dont know...

Dude, slap your light in this weekend and just be around to observe. When I got my 1st 1000 HPS I slapped it in there and left to party. Came back and my purps were fried. I have faith in you.

Awesome thats what im gonna do, i have a wireless weather station in there so i can always see it, keep her in my pocket when im home...

Anyone have any other advice for me on keeping them inside before i move them when its time
