2 600's would be amazing in that area. get digital ballasts. t-5's or cfl's for your "daylight" blue spectrum on the sides. just keep the temps under control and you will not be dissapointed.

would i need t5's? or could i just change my 600's to metal halides for the veg and then change the bulb for my flowering period?

how important would they be and how many would i need if they are important?

Mate slow down... first of all are you living in apartment or a house? and where is your setup. Second how good airflow you got, and third, Do you want to that high in electric bill... i mean cmon 2 x 600, its 1200w...

i live in a bunglalow, and its going to be in the loft, in a 2metre tent, i can get airflow to a house tile, its going to be in one of those big bud xxl 2.4m x 1.2m x 2.0m, with a amazon hydro set up, this one http://www.hydroponic-shop.com/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=1247

how much will the bill likely to be a month? and what do you suggest i use?

mh for veg will work instead of t-5. you will need some sort of air conditioner to cool the area unless you live somewhere real cold. 1200 watts won't raise your bill that much. find out your local KwH fee and there is a lighting sticky that can help you calculate the exact cost
