Ok this is my first time growing and i germinated the seed by putting it in a wet paper towel and leaving it in the dark. I didnt have soil and i ended up leaving it like this for about 3 weeks now. You can see the picture it is now growing out of the paper towel but its just a single skinny stem. It is kind of weird. I am getting soil tomorow and I was just wondering if there is any hope for my little plant.

It is a bella donna paradise seed and i will be looking to grow it inside for a bit then put it outside in a week or two or three.

Thanks guys
Mike

yeah its fine, cut that paper towel away, some left on it is ok but try not to damage the roots that much..oh and when you plant it bury most of that leaving a inch or so.

Alright thank you. Any particular soil i should use? and when you say bury the leafing about an inch do you mean the entire thing bury in soil? like is that all root basicall or should i let that top little leaf stick out an inch above the soil?

let those leafs stick out about an inch..and soil is a broad spectrum...I personally use Happy Frog http://www.foxfarmfertilizer.com/products_soils2.html and add some perlite and peat moss. A lot of folks use sunshine mix4 or a similar foxfarm product to mine. stay away from miracle grow unless its the organic version..everyone adds their own blend of things to it, but try a couple different methods and find what works best for ya. GL and keep up with the pics.

I would bury deep enough so the first leaves are hardly sticking out of the soil.

It has been growing without any light and the stem cannot be as thick as if it had been growing in adequate light so leaving any stem above ground might cause/allow the seedling to lean and fall and end up lying on the soil due to lack of thickness/strength.

It is not like you are giving up an inch of plant height that will not be regained soon enough but you could risk stem damage by letting any of a stem that is to thin to be above the soil and to be relied on to support the seedling. Also the more of the seedling you bury the more area there will be for it to push out roots so your root structure will grow and spread faster.

When planting it be very careful handling that long stem because it will easily be damaged. I would make a hole where it can easily be placed in fully and then gently move soil around it and I would not then pack the soil because doing so might break the root and instead I would gently pour water around the newly planted seedling and that will move soil around and get it placed firmly around the root and get rid of any air pockets without applying any undo pressure on the root that might break it.
