Best setup for my space?

Hi all, I am a total newbie and want to set something up in the attic in my shed. I have included a pic of the room I want to use. It measures 13ft accross, is 4ft high at the side and 9ft in height at the centre. I'd like to setup something for about 20 plants in a soil grow.

It'd be great if anyone could offer some advice on what way I should lay it out and what to get for the grow as I want to get going as soon as I can and have bought nothing yet. I was hopin to box off an area to do the job in.

Any help is greatly appreciated :D

Insulate with insulation for roofs. Board it up with something, plasterboard is pretty good for that.

Cover everything with panda film and seal all joins with Duct tape.

Make sure you sort out decent venting and intake holes.

Your main problem is gonna be heat, you don't want to get caught by Cops with IR cameras ;)

You could always buy some IR block film, and put it down on the plaster board before covering it with panda film.

Insulate the floor by putting down those polystyrene, 1 inch thick square tiles, i think you can buy them at Walmart. I'd put this under the Panda film.

As for lighting, it all depends on how much you want to grow.
You'll probably want to section your room in half, one side for Veg, one side for Flowering.

Many thanks for that Arrid.

I am just about finished the room, I have it insulated the roof with rock wool and used plaster board to seal it all off and I am about to put down some covering on the walls and floor. It's turned out really well, with plenty of space. I have purchased a 20 Pot Atami Wilma system and two 600 watt lights and I am getting clippings off a friend.

The problem is I am totally new to all this and am unsure where to go next. Would a journal keep me on the right track?

Right after a long break, I'm back and ready to get moving. I have some pics of the room as it's almost complete and what I equipment I have got for the job after reading so much I just want to get kicked off.

The room measures 13ft x 9ft it is 4ft in height at the sides and rises up to 7 feet in the middle. I plan on placing the pots in the middle to get full use of the height available.


I'll start my grow journal in the next week or so. . Any feedback or suggestions would be great! ;-)

Hi HappySack,

I'm going to be using the Atami Wilma setup. There is a reservoir under the pots (pic attached). There is plenty of sockets available for electricity.

What are the advantages of having a drain?

why wouldnt you go hydro?

i would do a 25/75 split of that room off to one side of the arc, so you have a 4-5 foot tall arced room for vegging/cloning. the rest of the room can be used for flowering... and definitely cover those walls with panda, or my favorite, reflectix. it blocks IR, and adds another layer of insulation all while having the reflectiveness of mylar.

How do you plan on cooling your 2 600's? What's the weather outside like (humidity and temp)?

I have two fans one in-line and one exhaust with carbon filter. The roof is insulated with rock wool. No Insulation on floor and walls - just plasterboard, will it not be keeping it cool that will be the prob?

I can keep the temps down with in-line fan and exhaust with temp control. The temps outside range between 40 to 50 degrees and there is zero humidity.

What ya reckon? Will this work for me?
