Alright, this journal is for anyone who is growing them some good eats. I dont care if its inside or out, hydro or organic, as long as its edible.

were all friends here so lets try to play nice. i like big pics not thumbnails but if this drives people crazy we can work around it.

im not the greatest writer so please contribute as this will get boring by myself.

im starting inside in my growroom this year. im using a mix of about 30/70 potting soil/sphagnum moss in 2" and 3" peat pots. most of what i planted/will plant will be going outside when its suitable but i do want to try to keep a few item inside.

heres what i started about a week ago

i thinned the tomatos and cucumbers into individual pots yesterday and started a couple more icebergs as only one came up.

i have about 15 nice tomato starts, 6 cucumbers coming along very nicely, 2 tiny broccoli sprouts, a iceberg sprout, a pea plant, and a single spaggetti squash.

im gonna go out here in just a bit to get some more seeds. everything i started so far is leftovers from last year. i want some peppers(green, chile, maybe habenero), green beans, and cherry tomatos. im also looking into getting some day-nuetral strawberries for both inside and out and blueberries as well.

2) genovese basil (about 3 weeks old)

3) mammoth basil (about 2 weeks old)

4) baby iceberg lettuce ( 1 week old)

5) carrots and other whats not (carrots are 3 weeks old)

6) onions (3 weeks old, keeping them on 12/12 until they can go into the yard)

miss- you like those expando-peat pellets those carrots are in? i have loads of them and havent tried them yet.

i just got back from the local ace and got green bell pepper seeds, cherry tomatos, and my green beans. i was gonna get basil, thyme, and some other spices but apparently i cant count and didnt have enough at the register. also got a small bag of vermiculite to lighten up my potting mix.

and i found carrot seeds i was looking for.

Yes I like the peat pellets. When I plant them I just tear the netting off of them. I have one of the really small jiffy plastic greenhouse things, it holds like 10 pellets. I start them in there and put it on a heating pad. The basil sprouted in 1 day. The lettuce, I have 2 in one pellet, I can just tear the pellet in half when I transfer them to another pot or outdoors.

I haven't tried the peat pellets for weed seeds, but I do have a clone in one right now, testing it out.

The mammoth basil is supposed to have really big leaves, wrap a chicken breast in it, throw in a spring of thyme and sage and toss it on the grill. That's the plan.

There's a really pretty purple basil I want to get too. This year instead of flower pots, I'm planting veggie pots instead. I think I'm going to do one with different kinds of leaf lettuce.

i need to get me som basil too ... that shit looks tasty miss :)
