Ive just buillt a pretty nice sized grow room in the attic, measures 2400x1200 im going to be using 2x600w lights. is it best now the summer is coming to have a intake coming from outside the house or will just putting a vent in a bedroom ceiling be ok? the intake and outlet will both be forced.

Also for the exhaust what do people generally do, im not really up for getting on the roof to put a tile vent in.

are you bringing fresh air conditioned air in from inside the house?is the room the hole loft ? if not vent it into the loft itself there are soffit vents all along the edge of the roof line that will exchange the air

No, its a room within the loft, so just having the exhaust pumping out of the room in to the loft space is ok? the intake will just be 4inch inline fan job, but not sure where to take the air from, a lower room or go through the wall to take fresh air from outside.

i grow in the loft
knock a hole in the chimbly stack and vet up it. i use 1 x 8" fan as extractor and 2 x 6" fans as in take lights are 2 x 600 and 1 x 1000 i can tell you now before you start 4" is way to small for a room that big with that much light.

p.s
i spent $$$$ on insulating the whole loft if you dont the temps can get in to 130F+ in the summer with out lights on. it got so hot the thermomiter went off the scale just read - - - - F

My friend did suggest that idea, think i might go for that. Thatnks for the advice on the size of fans, i should upgrade, ive got 2 4inch ones left from a previous grow but it wasnt as big.

Where do you intake air from?

oh and insulation, ive already insulated the walls of my room with rookwall and the roof with 5inch celotex.

But am concerened about the rest of the loft as i know in summer they do get hot. so its best to do the whole roof?

cost isnt a problem as im in construction and get freebies...

from the eves you know where the roof /\ you have a gap under the roof and where the gutter is i just put the 2 6" fans down there and get fresh air from outside into the grow room that helps loads cold air from out side.

p.s
if you do knock a hole in the chimbly make sure you block it up so no smell comes down it and stink your house out what i did uses loads of old clothes plastic bags and bunged the hole up and cut a pice of thin board to ram up the chimbly to stop it all falling back down that sorted the smell out. although i now use a carbon filter but still i would advise you doing it.

the best stuff is not rockwool although it will slow the heat coming in and going out infared heat will still go through it.

now heres where the best thing you can do to stop that happening even the police using FLIR will see the heat even if you use rockwool, (still keep the rockwool;-)) you need somthing to reflect infared heat from leaving the room and anything reflective will stop that best stuff to use is this shit

it called space blanket and it will refect 97% of the heat back in to the room that would otherwise end up penatrating the wall and could be seen by the pigs with the "FLIR" it will also stop the sun heating the roof because it will reflect the heat back stopping it coming through the foil bouncing it back out through the tiles.

space blanket is cheap comes in 1.2 x 2m by in bulk and get it for 0.51p a sheet of 120 its sliver 1 side gold the other have the gold face the grow room.

p.s you need a gap of air between the roof and the foil use a staple gun and thin pices of wood to make the gap.
