I just put in a big carbon filter with a 6" fan. Got it set up venting under building with passive intake hole but since I have had it on and venting out the smell is now obvious outside of the building? WTF??! Was no smell before and wanted to get some fresh air to the plants so what do I do now?? How could this be??? The Vent lines are all done right so I am at a loss... Thanks for any help...:fire:

well for starters the carbon filter should filter the exhaust, not intake.

what do you mean "venting under building"?

so are you sucking air out of the room using the carbon filter or bringing fresh air in and then scrubbing it through the filter? There should be 0 smell I mean none what-so-ever if you are using it as an exhaust. I had just the 4" filter and fan with 4 plants and couldn't smell a thing even in the grow room. I don't know this just doesn't sound right. Where did you purchase your filter and fan?

I never had such a hard time communicating a simple question. The vent for intake is passive, means no fan on hole for the air that comes into the room. The exhaust is air duct that runs out through a hollow floor, so what is that? well it is a floor of wood about 7 inches off the ground and under it is HOLLOW, meaning from the floor to the ground it is air. The sides of the building under the floor have loose boards so hole cut in them lets air go out the sides after it exists the floor hole. Now any theories to why the smell is now obvious even though it is going through the carbon filter...:wall:

Was commenting on the communication after the rag head photo guy asked a dumb question. You must have posted while I was typing. Sorry. The fan and filter are from HTG The fan is a 6" can fan the filter is the big 66. So I don't get it. The air in the room is pulled through the filter then out the floor. So what is the deal?

So many stupid heads it is amazing. Look what kind of idiot would put the carbon filter on the intake ok!!!>? Stupid question and if you don't get that then you are the dick! You can't get help on here from the morons that try so the morons should be told not to. Sorry you are offended but I am not an M5 like rag head might think. If someone was to put the filter on the intake then they should seek professional help and are beyond help from people on here!!! My room is so sealed the 6" passive intake can be felt sucking, or blowing up from above five feet up to my face so not to much chance of leaks being the issue. I went back out and now there is no smell so maybe I am high. But I am not because I only smoke ribs....

Not the answer but thanks for trying. The negative inside is sucking all through that hole so no chance of a back wash. Not sure what to believe or even to believe my own sense of smell sometimes.

Look at the threads posts before you post !! Like I said one more moron trying to help but just taking up space. The only person that would think someone would put a carbon filter on the intake and then vent the room out without one I am guessing is as stupid as the person that would do it. I don't think a person could be that dumb and even know what a carbon filter was or much less how to buy one. I can read by the way so do us all a favor and learn how before its to late....
use the filter on the exhaust cock smack.
