will a 100 watt hps get me thro flowering one plant?

hello everyone just need to know if this will work, i was veging one plant with 4 daylight cfls for a total of 5400 lumens. would a 100 watt hps flower my plant better than theses cfls? also I cant afford a 400 watt hps light at the moment so what do you suggest

Yes you will get better results with the HPS. you can also leave the CFLS in there like on the sides to get as much light to all the bud sights.

yes the bulb is not that expensive its the ballast to run the bulb that is the costly part...

Yea for now, but i would leave the cfls on there as well, just to get some extra light.

I used a 50W HPS and it got the job done.

noooooooooooooooooooooooo dont do that.....hps bulbs are not made to run like standard bulbs..there is a seperate ballast that ignites and powers the hps bulb

Bulb will explode. You need a ballast, which is what powers to bulb. There the expensive part of HID's.

they also have 400w for under 60$

you can also get a security light from the depot or lowes and rewire the ballast..its a whole helluva lot easier than it sounds..

Why would you need to re-wire the ones sold at Lowe's? They come with the black, white, and ground wires. You could just unwire a normal light socket (say, if your closet has a light), and rewire the ballast directly in as you would outside. Wouldn't that work safely?

you want to separate the ballast from the lamp so you can have the ballast outside of the grow spot in a remote location and cut down on the heat in your grow spacelike i said...super easy...
