When I bought them, I checked info in the net. Nothing was mentioned about how it should be mounted. Just the basic info - W, lumens and how many hours should it work. My mistake I didn`t save the check. I could just take it back and get my money back and pick another bulb.onenumcat said:if the package has the bulb model number you can google it. usually anyone who sells that model will have some tech specs which tell you how it should be mounted. also, the model number will usually give a hint also, ie; m400bud would be a metal halide, 400w, base up/down, meaning a vertical mount, up or down. but sometimes those letters and numbers only mean anything to the manufacturer. i'd google it.
