A Question On Air Cooled Reflectors

Hmm how did you FIM i tried it on my WW and i dont think they liked it.

Also a diff questions. If i had a 1.2m2 tent 2m tall could i run a 600 watt light with a 4inch inline fan that shifts 285m3 (I guess thats an hour) of air with a passive intake?
I think that would be ok... but I am not sure of the metric conversions. You should probably have about 350+ cfm for a 600w light. Does that help? Doesnt matter the space size as long as you move enough air.

As for fiming, it takes practice. Half the time they just end up topped. I like topping for the screens as it makes the lower branches "catch up" with the top. I have only been growing indoors in a serious way for less than 2yrs. So I am still novice but learing. After my last results on the screen I kinda hope to get at least 1.5oz per plant. It would be awesome to one day make the gram per watt mark.... Wow.. that was a tangent..LOLbongsmilie:eyesmoke:

Hmmm according to my maths the fan i was thinking off is only half the cfm you recommended. To get one for 350+ i would need to spend almost double the money. :s Its just a tent surely it shouldnt need that much?

I was planning on using one of these http://www.greenshorticulture.co.uk/Grow-Lights-182/Grow-Lights-189/Diamond-Grow-Light-567.asp and having a clip on fan in the tent blowing on the bulb at all times. With another fan circulating air.

One of my plants got topped instead of fimmed looks prity nice. I hope you can reach the gpw mark Someguy would be awesome.

I got no problem with thread hijacking, tis much easier to get answers when other plp have already subscribed to the thread.

I like the DIY approach but im not much of one. I am a student also with no car so gathering materials is a bit of a pain. And im in the UK so ebay doesnt have as much choice as you guys has.

Thanks for all the help also plp I really appreciate it.

I run very small cabinets. I have to use my 180 cfm inline fan with carbon filter to ventilate 250watts. I am using almost 300 to vent my 400w. You could get away with less if you had the light in an air cooled hood with dedicated intake and fan/exhaust for the light alone and then a fan to vent the tent out. Believe it or not it does take lots of air to cool a small space, more so than in a whole big room.

Even if you arent a DIYer, buying all you need will pay you back in the long run. Hope this all helps you out mang.

You are 100% correct I learnt the hard way.

YUP! The initial investment to do it right far out weighs dealing with problems through the whole grow. Unfortunately when growing in small spaces it takes lots of trial and error to find the "best" way. In My experience moving LOTS of air keeps the temps controllable. Using a screen helps regulate light penetration and also heat (light distance from tops). I think the only way to truly optimize a cabinet space is with a screen...LOL... but that's enough of me shamelessly promoting the scrog technique...LOL

Thanks guys based on your advice im gonna splash out the extra cash and get a 725m3/h fan (426.7189 cfm). That should be sick for a passive intake right?

Im excited about this reflector tho, the whole blooming is dependant on having a good light and hopefully i will have some decent penetration for growing my Super Lemon Haze. Any1 grown this strain before?

Will humidity be a problem btw?

I think you are making the right choice. If it turns out to be a little much just use a fan speed controller. There is also write ups on how to built "quiet" boxes for the inline fan. I doubt humidity will be a problem, you will be moving enough air it shouldn't be a factor.
