home made room cooler!!!!!

IVE GOT A GREAT COOLING IDEA!!!! it would pretty much be a mini ac unit.

Ok I thought of this and drew it all up for someone else but this is a really good idea.

It would involve the use of a peltier which is an electronic plate that transers heat from one side to the other of it. They are easy to obtain online for a low price.

A peltier has the potential to make the cold lines and copper tubing below freezing!!!!

Which means that fan would be blowing some ice cold air in your grow room.

anyways heres the picture of my design.

PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS...I may do up a nice DIY if I get enough requests. The process of building it would be VERY VERY easy and simple.

A GOOD idea. I'd be highly interested. My closet gets hot in here during summer. I've seen this succesfully cool a computer CPU so why not growbox?

Dont get disappointed by lack of response and do it anyway. You are clearly ahead of time. Think of future generations:) .
I'd love to see this done including real life data, diagrams and photos of working unit.

BTW i just noticed your water cooled computer. Its beautiful!!
Hey thanks alot man. Yeah I really think this would make a very effective and very energy efficient cooler. I mean honestly you could use it to cool things besides a grow room or grow light too.

Hey mate

I know this has been closed for a while, but hopefully your still around.

Is there a connected resevoir as well, or is the coolant just seeled in the tubes and keeps circulating?

Did you end up making this? I would love to see some photos....

Thanks

I hope you know though that you'd have to build an enclosure or move the hot end of the peltier ......... This is the very basic novel idea in which smaller capacity dehumidifiers work.....I can show you guys how to build like a 1 pint dehumidifier with a peltier.......all u need is an eclosure, collection plate.......and of course a fan to move the air through and have the water vapor condense on.........

which brought me to my last conclusion that you smoke entirely way too much weed and you should do some major consideration before posting ideas like this on the internet...............some yo yo might read this think you know wtf you're talking about and hurt and possibly hill him/her self and others.......

Did you ever consider that running ice cold copper lines in a hot humid grow envirornment will cause immediate condensation and water buildup on the pipes...........you've got the basic idea of building a dehumidifier but you're going to use the room as the collection plate...........smart........stoner smart.......

if you dont have a concrete understanding of temp, humidity, dew, and other important aspects you shouldn't even be growing................let alone giving ideas such as this........

and if you knew any laws of thermodynamics.......you'd know that there's no peltier in the world that can produce the degree of coldness needed to actually make a difference in air temperature........works great on processors granted you do an impecable job of sealing the cold side of the unit from contacting the warmer air around it.........but to cool a grow room??? at best you're going to be dumping a pint of water onto your floor daily......thats about it........

don't mean to be an ass.........but water + electrons don't mix.......

Hello,

just a few cents worth here,

you don't have to be such a blatent A#ole about it, this is a place for discussion and sharing ideas so we can all learn more about and improve results while enjoying this hobby. If he is truly wrong, maybe next time you could get your point accros in a more courteous way?

that would be a killer thing to cool the hoods with, mine are air cooled but you still get burnt if you touch them, do the diy thing man im on board

Hey magic hands - thats y we have this stoner community, so we can expand our knowledge and grow in places that we wouldn't have been able to before.

all the parts except the copper pipe could easily be in seperate sealed wooden box(s) if its necessary.

Humidity isn't really a problem - 60% or lower (usually much lower) but i could buy a cheap dehumidifier for the room my grow cabinet is in - my area is going to be 6ftx4-5ftx6ft - or i could put a layer of rice at the end of the pipe and change that when the humidity starts to rise.

I could use 2 instead of 1 in the same pipe if 1 didn't provide sufficient cooling.

I assume that you think my grow area is a room as opposed to a small cabinet from your answer.

Do you have any suggestions for cooling a small cab beyond fans if this still doesn't sound suitable.

I spoke about this idea on the chatroom about half a year ago..same kind of spiral design too..

yes each side the hot and the cold would both need a reservoir, it could actually be very small. No I unfortunatley havent goteen around to making it yet, havent really had much cash or spare time but I still do plan on making one in the future. I still think the idea would work fine.

One would assume condensation would build up on the outside of the cooling copper spiral piping.. Water inside the cool tube is a bad idea.

I've looked into this quite a bit.

The only logical thing I can think of at the moment is to cool down the water around a water cooled grow light..

http://www.1-hydroponics.co.uk/grow-lights/water-cooled-400w.htm

Grab one of them, have one end feeding into a sealed bucket with a cooling element inside and the other coming out into the light.

Even then i'm not sure it would make much of a difference, not to mention..can the bulb take the temps?

I also just realized that you are on about cooling a grow room and not a cool tube.

My mistake.

Either way, you're gonna be putting a lot of water into your growroom!
