i earlier started a post asking about sun leaves and was redirected to the litature on the site and it does make sense to me but i ve been doing this along time and tried both ways with equall results so this time around i have did a experiment i have 18 plants under 3000 wattts hps the first six i trimmed tons off sun leaves right before i put into bud the second set of 6 i trimmed half as much sun leaves and took all ther bottoms off and the third set of 6 i left all natural i am now in 4 th week of bud and they are all looking pretty equal

nice thanks for the expiriment... i kinda figured ..... iuno the aucilllary leaves around the buds must do something for the buds...im not sure 100% plant anotomy lol but i would figure sunleaves would be for vegg strength . building the plant up, and growing the roots... everything but the buds basically , and the aux leaVES around the buds would feed buds right ? iuno please no one come in on a flying rant to coreect everyone on lfie ,,, i know i set myself up by forming an opinion but please if someone could clear things up..... would be cool dude

just imagine if that plant could have been spending that energy making buds...

you get points for expermenting, but this shit has been done decades ago. the leaves are the solar power facilities of your plant, the flowers are the power storage sites. remove the power plants and theres less storage needed.

i trim the undergrowth simply because the light isnt very strong underneath the canopy and this concentrates the plants efforts at the canopy. but leaves shading top buds wont negatively effect the bud.

i no its been tested befor then how do you explain the buds are all roughly all th same size ??????????????????????? i no the big leves are what feed the flower but may be they can only feed so much and the rest are overkill and by taking some off your allowing light and enery to be spread around the overall plant????????????????????????

welcome to RIU by the way.

i dont know all the circumstances of your test and frankly, without pictures it just talk. but i do know what ive learned in botany classes and what ive learned growing for ten years. and i know that trimming perfectly healthy leaves has a negative effect on the plants overall health and performance.

I have grown for 18 years and have always trimmed fan leaves, I also have a degree in Botany and horticulture and can quite frankly tell you that it has no detrimental effect on the vigour and health of the plant.

perfectly healthy fan leaves from your canopy? you really dont think this has a negative effect on yield?

i trim out all my undergrowth prior to flowering but i definetly leave my canopy alone.

this is quite the intense botony/horticulture match man lol i always wanted to get into those feilds but what kind of jobs can you get with these degrees ?

no degrees here, just a few classes.

im sure theres plenty of different jobs you could get with those degrees though. couple them with a degree in chemistry or genetic research and you could be really valuable as an employee somwhere.

i like the tucking of the leaves suggestion that always settles these debates.

lol, I see these once a week and the idea of tucking leaves behind each other will keep everyone happy.

I am not advocating getting rid of any leaves other than ones which are covering potential bud sites. As I train all my plants fairly agressively I find fan leaves end up in unnatural positions, covering whole branches that I have contorted to produce many buds sites. These are the fan leaves I remove.:joint:
