Diy Cool Tube?

Hey i got 4 glass tubes 23" x 9" diameter 3 small drums 23" x 4" diameter There optically clear scratch free surfaces. was thinking maybe they would be good for a cool tube... THink they will work??

I would want tempered glass myself. If your fan quits/gets unplugged or whatever, that light is gonna make that glass so damn hot, I'm sure it will shatter/crack/explode.

its not actually glass its high grade acrylic . They originally cost 3000 dollars each..there are from Drum Scanner's

Its hard to see in the picture but are there a couple inside each other? They sound like they would be perfect for a cooltube, but wait are they UV resistent?

im not sure.. THey are used in scanners for scanning big photos so im guessing all light gets through.

Hell yeah those will work. Just make sure you have a strong reliable fan for good air circulation and everything will be fine.

and the best part of this stuff is you can cut it unlike glass..

I wouldn't use that if it is plastic, no matter what kind it is.

its acrylic, good for high heats... the light the scanner puts out is high temp.

just be sure that it can handle at least 300F
