Hi Guys.

I tried to do a search, but cant seem to get any results no matter what keyword i use.

Has anyone had any joy in growing strawberries? Im thinking about having a go with a dwc setup under CFL's.

Anything i need to know or is there any threads already started that someone could point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.
Your welcome, get the new day neutral strains that will produce year round rather than intermittently like the other varieties such as standard and ever bearing. Then you don't have to worry about your daylight lengths to trigger blooming and fruiting.

I just walked into my local nursery and bought a pack of 10 bare root plants. Try google if you can't buy them locally for a mail order supplier.
"Day-neutral strawberries will continue to set and ripen fruit all summer long until a hard frost puts them into dormancy. Day-neutral refers to the light sensitivity of the variety. Day-neutral strawberries will blossom and set fruit no matter how long or short the days are. There was a time when day-neutrals were called “ever-bearing” and earned a bad reputation among gardeners. The fruit was usually small and sparse. Today there are several excellent varieties of day-neutral strawberries and they are a wonderful choice for the gardener who wants a steady supply of fruit instead of having it all ripen at the same time."
(PS I remember that one of the strains I purchased was "Tribute", very tasty if vine ripened !)

Thanks anyway frm, but that doesn't really help me.

I can't find this strain, but if someone else does, please let me know.

Maybe I misunderstood. Perhaps frmfboi can further explain.

I thought that new day neutrals were once called everbearing, but arn't anymore. Now they are called new day neutrals where other strains are now called everbearing.

in jersey we get little wild strawberries everywhere they stay small and tart but they look really cool if you can control them!
