what do u mean by dual? buy FULL spectrum bulbs. if by dual you mean something like an LED bulb that has blue and red, DONT get that bc plants use ALL the spectrums except green (which is why they look green). they just happen to use the most in blue and red, but still have evolved to use all of them.

huero......Iv'e been using Sun System Dual Spectrum for 2 years now. 400w mh and 600w hps. Works great..haven't had any problems so far. My ballast is mounted outside the grow room due to the extra heat the ballast puts off. I'm using one unit for a 4'wx6'lx6'h grow room. Just my experience....

ive been told by loads that dual spectrum is fine for veg and flowering, i am going to be using dual spectrum 400w growlux for veg and 600w hps for flowering

i'm currently using a growlux 400w hps, which apparantly contains more blue than most other hps, supposedly making it ideal for both veg and flower. i used it for both with no problems at all, though i have no experience of MH.
My friendly local gwowshop tho (who both recommend and sell these bulbs..) suggest you should only use them for 2 grows max.. well, i'm vegging my 2nd and will buy and try a new one (i should keep a spare anyways i guess) before i flower - maybe i'll see a difference there, who knows..

the 430 watt hps bulb i heard are good ( that exrta 30 watts of blue spectum ) little moe costly though but puts out 5k extra lumens

hey pitch why do u think that u would need another bulb after grow 2?
and i was told that 400w hps would stretch ur plan, did u find this or was it ok for u?

PPP - it's just what the growshop recommend, something to do with how the bulb is tuned, and that using it for more than 2 grows would reduce yield, but like i said they sell the thing so maybe it's a load of BS... however, it's daft not to have a spare at less than 20quid, so i guess i'll be testing their claims soon enough.
As for stretch, it was a first grow, so i dont have so much to compare it to.. however, with a 4wk veg (from seedling) 2/3 reached about 90cm and i had a stretchy pheno (i guess) that got to about 1.2m (this was WW btw). that was 400w, and i had a heat shield - as it was a first grow it was a while before i got the confidence to get the bulb close.. maybe 25 cm in the end if iirc, but the old brainbox aint what it used to be lol, gonna write this shit down on my new grow!
