Feminized Seeds....Really? Pic included

I bought some feminized seeds & started my first grow with "store bought", high quality seeds. G-13 labs Northern Lights/Skunk feminized. I've never used feminized before, do they really give you nothing but female plants? If not, what is the percentage of female to male?:weed: The yield is one of the main reasons I bought them, they said up to 800g under indoor lights. SWEET if they do that much. Here's a pic of one at 2 weeks tomorrow, 1/17/09---My Birthday, now don't go all out for me...well OK if you insist...lol:lol:.

don't freak out
its not THAT common
probably won't happen 2 to u this time ;)
but keep it in mind when flowerin'
I already know about "Hermies", I had one on my first "experimental" grow 6 months ago (I'm assuming it was from stress--light too low and plant hit it a couple times). For those who haven't seen a Hermie, I'll attach some pics...look for the bananas. HeShe still smoked pretty good and I wouldn't throw out next one if it happens again. A little strange taste, but nothing I can't get get used to and the buzz was very cerebral. :weed:

true herms have both male and female parts... what you are showing, and probably the most common, is something different... see how the "naners" are coming out of calyxes? that is an intersexed plant.. alot of strains will do this towards the end of flower, some more than others...

When I first brought these pics up when it happened, someone else said the same thing...nice catch gogrow. Intersexed vs Hermaphrodite...either way, it isn't what was desired as an end product. I guess I'm still a little unsure as to the difference, but that might be because I'm fully baked right now...lol:shock:

not too sure of the difference myself, but i think that it has to do with the chromosones... a hermaphrodite would have male and female chromosones (xxy), whereas the intersexed female would only have the female (xy)... what this means in the long run, i have no f'n idea:confused:; but i think the hermies are less desireable because they are genetically inferior plants, and always produce seed, which arent fems....

if you let a plant polinate iteself it is more likely a hermie then if you were to use the pollen from a hermie and pollinate a different female....

Cut off the male flowers before they open if you dont want seeds... you can cut em off right before they open and then use the pollen to pollenate just a bud or two off whatever plant you wanna breed. The seeds will be femanized then. Meaning you will get females from those seeds. It shouldnt affect the buds whatsoever if you dont allow them to develop seeds... Personally my goal is to get hermaphrodite occasionally to breed and crossbreed strains. This way I keep a really valuable seed stock with garaunteed females.

its inposible to cut every pollen sack
not always....i mean there will be some inside the buds but in some cases it herms out just a little and there will be just a few to cut off and you'll be good. and even if you cant get all of them, you can atleast get some of them and stop a percentage of the seed production
